Happy International Yoga Day!
The horses even wanted to join in to celebrate with me today 🤪
Yoga hasn’t just given me pretty poses, free flowing movement, a way to nerd out on anatomy and understanding of the importance my breath.
Yoga has given me a way to connect with my body after periods of disassociation, even to the most subtle sensations and awareness of parts. Yoga has gifted me with the knowledge of what it feels like to be in my body, to be soft and feminine, sensual, strong, to meet myself at my edges with compassion and non judgement. It teaches me to also rest in my yin and remember to play and have fun! Yoga introduced me to meditation and what it means to be mindful so I can harness my erratic/intrusive thoughts. Yoga has taught me what it means to turn my attention inwards and listen to what I need and want, not what society tells me. Yoga introduced me to non-attachment which I try to implement in all aspects of my life in relationships/materials/work/hair so I can live more freely.
On and off the mat, yoga has changed my life. I’ve changed my diet, values, goals, purpose because of how much I align with the ancient teachings and wisdom. I travel around the world practicing at different beautiful studios, meeting like minded people and feeling like I’m around people I belong even on different continents. Yoga challenges my beliefs and views everyday, allowing me to know that it’s more than okay to embrace change(since this is one of the only sure things in life). Yoga helped me believe in the working magic all around us, abundance and manifestations becoming reality and how powerful I am to make this happen especially when I am in higher vibrations like gratitude. Yoga showed me what it was like for emotions to rise, to be sat with and experienced and then moved through.
My lifestyle and resilience to adversity is better because of Yoga. I couldn’t understand for a while when people talked about the positive benefits from a regular practice bringing them so much, but when I reflect, there is so many reasons to celebrate this fantastic way of life and when I commit to it myself, I remember, again and again and again. I love it and my body loves it!
Yoga looks different to everyone, to everyday but how you make it part of your life is where you’ll experience your own journey and what it can bring to you 🧘♀️
