We’re excited to announce that Ashton Avenue Medical Centre in Claremont has been selected as the winner of DHASWA’s 2025 Crazy Socks 4 Docs competition.

Their submission captured the entire team – doctors, nurses, receptionists, and allied health professionals – united in vibrant sock solidarity. The creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment to supporting doctors’ wellbeing truly stood out.

As recognition for their inspiring entry, Ashton Avenue Medical Centre has been awarded $500 to go towards a wellbeing activity of their choice.

June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, a vital time to talk about Australia’s second deadliest cancer.

The good news? Bowel cancer is one of the most treatable cancers when detected early.
Yet many people delay testing, often because symptoms are mild, or they feel fine.

At Ashton Avenue Medical Center, we’re encouraging all eligible patients to:
✅ Complete your free bowel cancer screening test (ages 50–74)
✅ Book a GP appointment if you have symptoms like blood in your stool, persistent changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss or abdominal discomfort
✅ Talk to your doctor if you have a family history of bowel cancer

Bowel cancer doesn’t always show symptoms early. Screening saves lives.

It’s Men’s Health Week! 💙

This week marks the annual Men’s Health Week, a global campaign raising awareness about the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of boys and men.

The 2025 theme, “See a GP", shines a spotlight on the importance of seeking medical advice when something doesn’t feel right.

With 3 in 4 men avoiding the doctor even when they have a health concern, this year’s message is clear: don’t wait. It’s always better to check in early than risk leaving it too late.

A local UWA graduate, Dr Mark has worked for several decades in medical centres and hospitals across Perth. In addition, he has had involvement with charity fundraising and as a medical volunteer overseas.
