There’s a part of ADHD that people don’t talk about enough.
It’s not about the distraction.
Or forgetfulness.
But the moment where you’re staring at something simple…like paying a bill
and you just can’t start.
You know what to do.
You’ve done way harder things.
You know you are capable.
But nothing happens
That’s the knowing but not doing gap.
And it’s where our shame lives.
Over time, people stop seeing this as neurological…
and start seeing it as a personal failure.
But it isn’t
It’s about executive functioning.
It’s about how our brain initiates action.
And when we understand that,
we stop telling people to “try harder”
and start helping them do things differently.
I spoke about this recently in an article with Mamamia because this is the part of ADHD people struggle with - starting...
If this resonates, I’d love to know:
What’s something “simple” that ends up feeling hard?
