Our monthly catch up is on again and we can't wait to see you.

When the days are long and the nights are even longer isolation creeps in, well-meaning family say things that aren't helpful and you find yourself looking back at someone in the mirror who isn't quite the same. Matrescence is a wild ride, but I promise you it's far easier when we are together.

I'm not going to lie, last year was hard, change was not at the pace that I wanted it to be and there was many disappointing turns. However I think 2026 is going to be a much more fruitful year and this is a big reason why.

I was recently interviewed by Fiona Stanley Hospital to help call for consumers to be involved in the new South Metro Birth Trauma Advisory Committee. We attended the initial meeting recently and it was a huge turning point in this massive campaign for change.

The people that have come together around the table for this advisory committee are passionate and dedicated individuals who are ready to see the change that we have been begging for.

I left Fiona Stanley in May of 2020 a broken and traumatised woman after the birth of my first baby. I was so shocked and traumatised by what happened I didn't think there was light at the end of the tunnel.

But I now proudly share this with you, a real beacon of light, and hope for change.

I truly believe that this group will find success and that we will continue to steer the huge ship, that is maternity care, back to women centered, consensual and trauma-informed care.

2025 has been the most frustrating year, we did have some great achievements with the launch of our peer to peer support program and travelling the country side to deliver some of our training but after such a great year in 2024 we knew 2025 had huge boots to fill.

This year has been the year of learning and patience, learning how slow things can be, and being patient with our extremely stagnant health system.

In comparison to 2024 it feels like we did nothing but in reality we've probably done a lot. Thank you to everyone that supported us this year. Let's hope 2026 is full of growth, success and change!
