The upper neck (upper cervical spine) plays an important role in how your head, neck, and nervous system function.

When this area becomes restricted or overloaded, it can contribute to symptoms such as headaches, neck stiffness, pressure at the base of the skull, and even feelings of dizziness or being “off.”

In many cases, it’s not just one structure - it’s a combination of joint restriction, muscle tension, and how the body has adapted over time.

Treatment focuses on improving movement, reducing tension, and helping the area function more efficiently.

Small area - but it can have a big impact on how you feel day to day.

This is something I commonly see in people like nurses who spend long hours on their feet, leaning forward, charting, lifting, and working in awkward positions 👩‍⚕️

One recent case presented with shortness of breath and a moderate sharp pain through the mid-back/rib region.

Often, it’s not the rib itself - it’s the surrounding thoracic joints, rib mechanics, and muscle tension from prolonged postures and repetitive strain.

This can make deep breathing uncomfortable and create that sharp ache through the mid back.

Restoring proper rib and thoracic movement, along with reducing the surrounding tension, can make a huge difference ✅

Posture isn’t just aesthetic - it can influence how your body feels day to day.

Spending long periods in a rounded, hunched position (hyperkyphotic posture) places extra stress on the upper back, neck, and chest. Over time, this can lead to increased tension, shallow breathing, fatigue, and in some cases even dizziness or nausea.

It’s not just about posture itself - it’s about how long you stay in those positions.

The goal isn’t to sit perfectly straight all day, but to move more, open up the body, and reduce that constant load.

That constant tightness in your neck and upper back isn’t just from “sleeping wrong.”

It’s usually a mix of:
• Posture
• Muscle overuse
• Joint stiffness
• Poor movement habits

If you’re always stretching but it keeps coming back… you’re likely missing the real issue.

Restore movement → reduce tension → fix the cause.

If stiffness, aches, or reduced movement are slowing you down, chiropractic care may help.

We focus on safe, tailored care to keep you moving and independent.

Tinnitus and jaw pain at the same time? That’s not a coincidence.

Your jaw (TMJ), neck, and surrounding muscles are closely linked to the structures around your ear.

When something isn’t functioning well — it can show up as:
• Ringing in the ears
• Jaw pain or clicking
• Headaches or tension

If you’re only focusing on the ear, you might be missing the real driver.

Assess the whole system → treat it properly.

Jaw pain, clicking, or tension? It’s not always a “jaw problem.”

It can be coming from your neck, posture, stress, or even how your muscles are working together.

If you’re only treating the jaw, you might be missing the real cause.

Assess the full picture → fix it properly.

Low back pain isn’t always about “tight muscles” 👇
Sometimes it’s poor control, weakness, or movement patterns that aren’t doing you any favours.

Fix the cause → not just the symptoms.

If your back keeps flaring up, it’s time to assess properly.

Athletes push their bodies hard - training stress, travel, poor sleep, and high workloads can all take a toll on your immune system 🧠💥

Want to keep your immune defences solid? Here are simple daily habits that support recovery and resilience:

🍊 Vitamin C – A glass of orange juice or citrus fruits can help protect cells and reduce inflammation.
😴 Sleep – 7–9 hours of quality sleep is non-negotiable for immune repair.
💧 Hydration – Dehydration can weaken immune function, so keep the fluids coming.
🥦 Whole foods – Prioritise colourful veggies, lean protein, and omega-3s.
🏃 Moderate training – Overtraining can suppress immunity. Listen to your body and recover smart.
☀️ Sunshine & Vitamin D – Vital for immune regulation. Step outside when you can.
😌 Stress management – Chronic stress raises cortisol, which can suppress immune defences.

Small daily choices = long-term performance.
Train hard. Recover smart. Stay ready. 💪

Just because you’re in pain… doesn’t always mean something is injured.
Pain is complex - it’s your nervous system sounding an alarm, but sometimes that alarm is hypersensitive.

You can feel pain without structural damage.
You can have structural issues without pain.

Stress, lack of sleep, fear of movement, and even old injuries can all make your body feel threatened and pain is your brain’s way of protecting you.

That’s why treating pain isn’t just about “fixing the body”, it’s about calming the system, building strength, and restoring confidence in movement.

If you’re stuck chasing pain, it might be time to zoom out and look at the bigger picture.

Just 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week is all it takes to support cardiovascular health.

Regular movement helps lower blood pressure, improve circulation, reduce the risk of heart disease, and boost your recovery and endurance.

You don’t need to overtrain, you just need to be consistent. Small efforts, big impact.

Chiropractic care is all about optimising your brain-body connection 🧠⚡

Your nervous system controls everything: movement, strength, sensation, digestion, even recovery. Signals travel from the brain → spinal cord → nerves to every muscle and organ, then back up for processing.

When there’s interference (from misalignment, tension, or injury), those signals weaken, leading to pain, stiffness, weakness, poor coordination, or even organ dysfunction.

As chiropractors, we assess where these disruptions occur and adjust the spine to restore proper nerve flow. When your nervous system functions optimally, you move better, feel better, and perform at your best 💪
