I am a Women's Health Physiotherapist and Director of MummaBorn - A holistic maternal health service, providing care to all mummas from bump, to birth and beyond! Kangatraining is an exercise program that is specifically designed for postantal women. You get to workout, meet other mums and wear and bond with your joey, all at the same time!!! You can commence Kangatraining as early as 6 weeks post
partum if you have had a vaginal birth and 12 weeks postpartum if you have had a c-section. Don't forget to get cleared by a Women's Helath Physiotherapist :)
And you know what? If you have an older joey... they can come too!!!! There is no age limit for babies, as long as every participating Kanga Mum can safely adn comofrtably wear their baby. Older siblings are always welcome. A kangatarining class usually runs for around 60 mins and we:
- Begin with a warm up track with babies in arms
- Some footwork, focusing on core and pelvic floor stregnth and endurance
- Babies then go into carriers and we do soem aerobic choreographies, including squats and lunges and glut med work
- Class ends with pelvic floor exercises and a circle chat, where we discuss a different toipic relating to motherhood, each week!
