Finally the food pyramid in the USA has been updated, now let’s pray Australia follows.

The hardest thing I’ve battled with since becoming a nutritionist was the redundant information taught in all universities and in nutrition courses and certifications because they have to met dietary guidelines.

In case you missed it the dietary guidelines for USA were updated yesterday for 2026-203O when they will be revised again, rather than leaving it over 25 years like in the past. Here is the direct link for the update:https://cdn.realfood.gov/DGA.pdf

Key takeaways are things I’ve preached for the last 10 years and stood by despite the out dated food pyramid because the facts don’t lie! Here is a summary:

- Focus on whole foods
- Protein with every meal
- Total protein calculated on body weight
- Calorie intake based on individual needs not to be generic
- Main intake for the day should be lean protein, vegetables and fruit
- limit refined carbs and focus on complex whole food sources (obviously this is for general population not athletes)
- Reduce and limit processed foods and alcohol

2025- the year that changed everything.

A year of growth that became the catalyst for the previous nine.

The year I turned 40, levelled up, and truly stepped into my next chapter of leadership. CEO energy activated. No more hiding. I absolutely loved turning 40 and it’s almost like a permission slip that says, “I’ve arrived!”

This year stretched me more than I ever expected. I knew it would be big, but 😮‍💨 wow!!

The year that asked if I was really ready — to grow, stay aligned, and hold what was coming. To remember why I started and to stay regulated (mostly 🫠) My answer was yes, 🙌🏻 a f**k yes, I’m done with playing small and I’ve learnt the lessons…. and I’m proud of that.

The first half of the year challenged me, especially building the Happy Healthy web app to house my beta tested virtual coaching program. It broke me, but I was in deep and there was no turning back- I had one option and the only option was to step up! It forced a new level of professionalism and resilience. Oh and the lessons, the lessons! So I chose to slow down, grow sustainably, and protect my business, my health and the legacy I’ve built — a decision I stand by. Spoiler alert - it has paid off 🤗 💥

The second half brought momentum, new gym partnerships, public speaking opportunities, and supporting thousands to thrive through our virtual coaching program with truly personalised nutrition that’s never been seen before. This meant by the end of the year I was left in shock that my business had actually scaled and it’s done what I was planning to do, I didn’t expect the feeling of disbelief I had, it actually rattled me. But like always I rode the wave and now I’m excited because I’m just getting started!

There were big personal wins too — completing Hyrox with my husband, celebrating 40, time in Bali, lots of amazing family time, friendships & finally facing old money beliefs. I’ve surrounded myself with high vibe people who live in alignment.

I’m finishing 2025 in deep rest, deeply grounded. Life isn’t a race and slowing down now is what’s setting me up to move powerfully forward.

Meet Sarah 🤍
Sarah came to me after being referred by a friend, Chris who had great results working with of me. Nearly all of my clients are referral based. For years, Sarah had been struggling with gut issues, inflammation, bloating, pain and brain fog. She’d seen other specialists and GP multiple times about this, tried different approaches, yet nothing ever truly resolved the issue, the discomfort just became her “normal.”

When we first spoke, I took the time to ask deep, targeted questions to determine what was actually going on beneath the surface. From there, we ordered functional testing, including gut microbiome mapping and food intolerance testing.

The results were eye-opening.
👉 High levels of E. coli in the gut
👉 Multiple food intolerances — with a significant reaction to dairy (casein protein)

Today team Happy Healthy celebrated, not only Christmas but our mission. We went to Coogee & Common to do a garden tour and have a beautiful long lunch. It was relaxing and low key, how we like it and what we all really need right now.

2026 marks 10 years in business and it’s been a ride, but what a blessing. This time 10 years ago I was secretly planning my departure of the corporate world to start my business in early 2016.

I have all the feels at the moment reflecting on this year and also the last 10 years and wow I’m proud of me for making it this far with integrity the whole way and never giving up. I wouldn’t have done it without the amazing people around me, my clients, customers, supporters and our incredible little team! I feel so blessed to be supported by these two incredible humans Domonique Delfs & Clare Clarke. Both of these humans connected with Happy Healthy as clients years, years and years ago and both have so much heart, integrity and passion for helping others it’s no wonder we’ve built the dream team!

Next year I am stepping up into my “leader” era and I’m so excited! This is actually what I did in corporate, I was State Manager of a big team and I wasn’t a manager- I was a leader! It’s about finding people who are as passionate as you about what you do and that’s what sets us apart!

Meet Shanika — and trust me, remember this name.

I’ve coached Shanika since she was 14 years old and now at 17, she has turned into an absolute weapon 💥
Mindset. Strength. Confidence. Discipline. All next level.

She recently committed to my monthly metabolic coaching and her progress has been unreal. Shanika thrives on challenge, so after her slow progress at the start training at a standard gym building confidence and strength, I knew it was time to level her up, and I exposed her to the world of Avada CrossFit 🏋️‍♀️🔥 knowing she’ll be pushed in the way she needed.

🔥Metabolism-Boosting Habits You NEED in Your 30s, 40s & Beyond! 💃🏻

Think your slow metabolism is “just aging”? Nope — you can absolutely turn things around with a few simple shifts.

Here are 5 essentials to fire up your metabolism and ditch the middle-age spread:

1️⃣ Prioritise PROTEIN — every day, every meal and at least 25 grams per meal at the very least. Your body has its own unique protein needs, and hitting this macro target changes absolutely everything for your metabolism. Think higher food thermogenesis and building muscle so you burn more calories at rest. Aim for at least 2 grams per kilo of body weight, for athletes it’s even more.

2️⃣ Eat ABOVE your BMR, stop under-fueling! Your body can’t burn energy if you don’t give it any to use. FACT: We also use nutrients in food to make hormones, so you can wave good bye 👋🏼 to peri-menopause symptoms with the right diet.

3️⃣ Hit the right macro split for YOUR body and YOUR goals. This will vary for everyone and to really know I suggest doing a personalised nutrition consult. Low carb isn’t always the answer ladies.

4️⃣ Eat a wide variety of nutrients to prevent deficiencies that trigger cravings. Willpower will only get you so far. Consistency and patience is key. 🔑

5️⃣ Stop restricting and skipping meals— it slows your metabolism, affects digestion, detoxification and increases stress on your body. Our body loves to feel safe and nourished, I suggest eating every 3 hours during the day and fasting around 12 hours over night. Yes you need breakfast- that’s why it’s called BREAK-FAST!

Think about it…

Something feels off, you wake up fuzzy, lack energy, struggle with bloating, weight gain… the list goes but you never look into because you “think” you are healthy, living a relatively healthy lifestyle.

I find it crazy that people spend money on quick fix programs, uber eats and splash a s**t tone of cash on Black Friday sales that give a “quick” dopamine hit and feels good for a second, but imagine investing in your health for a life time of feeling good and long term return on the investment. If you’ve never paid for professional advice you don’t even know what you are missing.
