This time last month we landed in Bali and it’s actually taken me whole month to process this holiday because I felt all emotions of highs and low, and came home out of alignment….
Not what I was expecting.
This holiday had all the feels and I’m choosing to remember it as great family memories and something the kids will cherish and remember forever. To me this means - time and money well spent.
I just hope they don’t remember the vomiting! 🫣 I will never forget it.
Turns out Emily has come home with two parasites and lucky I know a thing or two about Nutrition and gut health, so I trusted my gut (pardon the pun) and ordered a stool test. Emily has started a protocol to ensure we can remove the parasite while protecting her microbiome. Now for the rest of us to test just incase.
Back to the alignment thing- I’m not who I was 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago… I know who I am, what I want and what makes me feel good. Parts of Bali had this, but many parts didn’t and since returning I’ve realised a few key things.
1: Drinking alcohol isn’t worth it, or for me. However at times I can find it fun and we live in society where drinking is social. I’ll be very selective as to when I drink and I promise you it won’t be often.
2: Not everyone is going to live like me and that’s okay.
3: Your physical appearance really is a reflection of your choices and because of that it might make others uncomfortable but don’t drop your standards.
4: Despite the above overall Bali was good but I’ve learnt a lot. I would rather travel there without my kids. I think we live in the best place for kids to grow up and we could have had a better week at Bicton Baths. Club Med might be sold as “great for kids” but not if you have big standards for sleep schedules and proper nutrition.
Overall I’m deeply grateful for this holiday and I’m going to remember it as a moment in time where I realised my own standards, but still a great time with great people.
Moral of the story- you don’t need to explain standards to anyone else. It’s up to you to live in alignment and if you don’t feel your best then something is wrong. Don’t settle for less.
