Exactly what I do to manage building muscle without gaining fat…. Over time!

Disclaimer, I’m not you and you are not me but tips will be helpful.

Every one starts with a different base line and this approach is great for maintaining a healthy weight once you get there. However if you tried everything and cutting your calories just makes you feel flat, like you have no determination and frustrated starting with a personalised reverse dieting program made for YOU might be what you need.

If the last week is anything to go by 40 is going to be epic and I have one word I’m bringing in… LIVING. This next decade is all about living!

Unapologetically LIVING life to my highest standard, pure joy, going all in, having strong boundaries, quality family time, saying YES to more adventures, delicious food, more travel and crushing my biz goals!

The last week has been amazing! 🤩 Hyrox with I’m actually still on a high from it!

I got written confirmation of a new gym partnership totally aligned to my brand and values! 😍



An amazing day with my bestie on my actual birthday, being spoilt with all the things I love- quality soul chats, walks in the sunshine, amazing lunch from which has been on my list for a while. Thanks for spoiling me babe loved it.

Then a night stay of luxury and quality time at the Crown Towers with the family and special quality time with my baby girl.

Then a fun surprise, an amazing adventure picnic by .me organised by Jason. I highly suggest doing this it was incredible and so fun.

Now we are off to a dry triathlon to raise money for R U Ok day with team (the perfect way to start the day)

Then party time with all my amazing friends and family tonight! Incoming 40 and Fabulous party. 🎉

Look out everyone J Lowe is on fire! 🔥 40 feels good and I’m here for it. I feel like life is just getting started.

Hyrox Fuel, race time 3:30pm this Saturday 👊🏼

Dinner in clinic tonight while reading client blood tests.

You don’t have to make it hard, you just need a plan. Knowing I was working late in clinic this Wednesday I prepped my dinner on Sunday in advance when I had time leaving no room for nutritional mishaps!

Homemade Shepard’s Pie, ticks all the boxes. Delicious, family friendly, can be made in bulk, balanced macro split when high protein and fibre. 👌🏼

A MASSIVE Happy Birthday 🥳 to our Queen behind the scenes- Dom

Behind every great business is a great team and that’s us.

Dom you are one of a kind and as you know I adore you and I appreciate you so much. We’ve been through it all and you’ve been the only one crazy enough to believe in my vision all these years.

Together we’ve made your dream of leaving corporate a reality and we are onto something epic! Thanks for being you, a tech savvy, level headed passionate human with integrity to match.

For those watching at home Dom has been with Happy Healthy since 2018, and she originally started after being a client and wanting to me automate things because she could see I was struggling with small biz growth. She’s more than helped me, Happy Healthy would not be where it is without Dom. She built our old recipe hub and has been keeping me sane while we’ve built our virtual consults and the web app. Dom has seen others come and go and she lasted through Covid, we’ve lost babies together, we’ve healed together and together we are building something magic! ⚡️ Dom even recently became a fully qualified Sports Nutritionist, after trying many others over the years we decided 3 years ago she might as well do that too! Now she consults in clinic as well too. She can do it all!

We joke about working from Bali banana lounges and sipping cocktails, it’s a funny story but when you see it, you know we made it! Swipe right to see me and Dom in Bali in 2019 when I paid for us to go with our toodlers thinking we would get more work done 🤣🤣 it was nightmare! Think different toodler sleep schedules, breast feeding and moody kids. We did manage some epic cardio sweat sessions, hence the photo is after far too many burpees.

Happy Birthday Dom, I love ya! The banana lounges and cocktails are closer than we think.

It’s about health and longevity, it’s not luck it’s strategy!

I’m asked all the time from clients and even friends how to maintain the same weight and stay lean, all while getting to eat so much and the truth is, I don’t maintain the same weight all the time and that’s the whole point.

By strategically gaining weight and building muscle with increased calories, more strength training and less cardio for a period of time, I can easily drop weight and fat with a slight calorie deficit when I need to. The difference is my calorie deficit never comes from deprivation and eating less, it comes from moving more and I don’t need to move much more to achieve this either, that’s the beauty of high muscle mass…. it’s science, it’s metabolic conditioning. It’s training smart and eating smart not flogging yourself to stay small.

Recently I was forced to have two weeks off training and going to the gym. Instead of thinking along the lines of “I better eat less” like most people, I made a choice to eat more because I know that when I start training for Hyrox next week I’ll be starting strong, I’ll be starting fuelled and my body will reap the rewards of the nourishment.

It’s strategic, it’s mindset, it’s about health, it’s about choices, it’s about education.

Everyone has different needs, everyone needs a different strategy we don’t start from the same baseline! This is why you won’t find me flogging quick fixes or low calorie diets in a bid to make a buck. I’m proud of the passion and integrity I hold with my business and my clients. I care about your health, your energy, how much you get out of life including joy!

After a little family time and some fresh air I am back in clinic tomorrow and can not wait!

It’s been a wild couple of weeks with my hubby away, school holidays, influenza B which hit poor Isaac really hard and a short 3 night glamping stay in Margaret River.

I love routine and I love my job so I don’t really need holidays from it, but it’s always nice to have a break and refresh the mind. Just a few days is all I ever need.

6 amazing clients tomorrow and one on-line live seminar for the crew of & & & & ….. It is actually so cool my virtual coaching program can help anyone anywhere at any time! 5 Nutrition Hacks every female over 35 should be doing to have a better peri-menopause experience!

1. Eat 3 whole-food meals every day with a balanced macro split. Balance those blood sugars!

2. Stop the low carb diets that are destroying your gut health and hormones! Yes low carbs, means low fibre and resistance starch which feeds your microbiome and balances your hormones. Not to mention supports your detox pathways! Low carb will get you quick results not lasting ones.

3. Like the above 25-30 grams of fibre every day! You are going to need to eat some decent wholefood carbs to achieve this one!

4. Protein, yes a lot of protein… at least 2 grams per kilo body weight, example a 60kg female needs at 120 grams. Yes ladies one large egg only has 6-7 grams of protein so yes it’s a lot! Get to it and don’t forget to spread it across 3 meals!

5. Breakfast every day and food before coffee, every day and always. By supporting your natural cortisol peak in the AM you’ll also balance your blood sugars preventing insulin resistance longer term. Have your coffee around 10am when cortisol starts to taper off after its morning rise.
