🩸 DOG BLOOD DONORS NEEDED 🐾

We are currently looking for canine blood donors to help us save lives in emergency situations. Just like humans, dogs sometimes require blood transfusions due to trauma, surgery, illness, or toxin exposure and having donors ready can make all the difference.

To be eligible, your dog must:
• Weigh at least 22kg
• Be aged 1–7 years
• Be desexed
• Be currently healthy (no vomiting or diarrhoea)
• Be up to date with vaccinations, de-worming, and heartworm prevention

Owners must also understand that donors may be needed at short notice in emergency situations. While we can’t predict when blood will be required, having a reliable donor list allows us to act quickly when a patient’s life depends on it.

💙 May Focus - Blood Pressure 💙

High blood pressure (hypertension) is an important but often overlooked health issue in pets, especially as they age.
While it’s most common in pets over 12, it can develop much earlier.

Regular blood pressure checks help us detect it early and step in before serious damage occurs.
The tricky part? Many pets show no obvious signs until the condition is advanced.

🐾 What you need to know:
• Common in senior pets, but can occur earlier
• Often has no visible symptoms in early stages
• Can cause serious damage to:
👀 Eyes (including sudden blindness)
🫘 Kidneys
🧠 Brain
🫀Heart

Possible signs may include:
😴 Sleeping more than usual
🫩 Lethargy
😞 Depression
🤕 Bumping into objects

🐱🐶Early detection can make all the difference so during the month of May, every cat and dog aged 7yrs and over that attends a vet consult may receive a complimentary blood pressure check with our nursing team 👩‍⚕️

They really are one of the toughest little breeds with the biggest hearts 🐾💕

Double trouble 🐾

We had not one, but TWO adorable Jack Russell Terriers in for dental cleans on the same day 🦷 from completely different families!

Can you spot the difference?
🐶 Archie (Right - snuggled up with Nurse Sarah) is a long-coat/wire-haired Jack Russell
🐶 Roger (Left - being cuddled by Nurse Fayth) is a smooth-coated Jack Russell

Jack Russells were originally bred as expert vermin hunters! Think fast, fearless, and incredibly clever little workers. Don’t let their size fool you… they’re the definition of tiny but mighty! 💪

These pups are known for their big personalities, often described as tenacious, chatty, and super affectionate (when they’re not busy plotting their next zoomies mission 🏃🏼‍♂️)

We had so much fun caring for these two cuties, and loved watching them zoom around our outdoor area after their procedures! 🐕💨
