A word from the wise 😌

I personally use the W.A.I.T acronym (which stands for "Why Am I Talking?") as a reminder to pause before speaking. I've learned the hard way that even the most true and kind words can create conflict if the person speaking or hearing them is not in their right frame of mind.

Trying to smooth ripples only creates more waves. Or, as Alan Watts put it, "Muddied water is best cleared by leaving it alone."

We all need a safe space to sit with our feelings, whatever they are. It's why I'm not here to tell you to relax or stick your head in the mud, nor am I here to light a fire under your feet. I am a reminder that trying to steer a ship in the middle of a storm can rip the sail, break the mast, and destroy the rudder. I agree that if we patiently wait until serenity returns when the weather clears, we may be lost at sea and facing in the wrong direction at that point, but we will at least be in one piece and able to shift into mindful action.

Buddhism has given us the tools to endure and get through difficult and turbulent times together. So, when in doubt, wait it out. Nothing lasts forever.

Holding space for you,
Timber Hawkeye
With love and devotion YB ( Sue)
