At Paraquad Willetton, we’re passionate about keeping as many donations as possible out of landfill - and that means getting a little creative behind the scenes.

🪵 Meegan, one of our absolute superstars, works her magic on tired and well-worn wooden chopping boards. With a careful sand back and a fresh wax finish, she restores them beautifully so they’re ready for a brand new home.

📚 Kate looks after the books and finds it hard to see any go to waste. While some can’t be resold due to their condition, there are often pages too special to discard. She carefully selects what can be salvaged and passes them on to Meegan, who pairs them with donated frames to create unique, ready-to-hang pieces.

It’s all part of our commitment to sustainability, creativity, and community. ♻️

Next time you visit, keep an eye out — you might just find a lovingly restored treasure waiting for you.

Earlier today, our Executive Director Shane Yensch (pictured right) proudly presented WHS Certificates of Appreciation to Ben Jennings (left) and Aaron Cornes (centre) in recognition of their outstanding initiative and commitment to workplace safety.

Ben and Aaron recently went above and beyond their usual duties to help clear and organise clutter around the Newton Street and Slade Street donation bins, helping create a safer and more organised environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Their teamwork, initiative, and strong focus on safety are a fantastic example of the positive workplace culture we strive for at Alinea.

👏 Thank you, Ben and Aaron, for stepping up and making a real difference!

March Safety Month at Alinea is focusing on the risk of heat-related illness.

Even as summer begins to wind down, hot weather and heatwave conditions can still occur across many parts of Australia. Working or spending time in high temperatures can be dangerous, and heat-related illness can develop quickly and become life-threatening if not treated early.

Heat risk doesn’t only affect people in outdoor roles. It can also impact people working in warehouses, vehicles, enclosed spaces, and buildings with poor airflow or limited cooling. Older people, people with chronic health conditions, and those taking certain medications may be especially vulnerable during extreme heat.

Simple precautions can greatly reduce risk: staying hydrated, taking regular breaks in cooler areas, wearing light and breathable clothing, and recognising early warning signs such as dizziness, cramps, fatigue, or nausea.

Heat illness is progressive - being informed and acting early can make a critical difference, protecting yourself, your colleagues, and those you support both at work and in everyday life.

🏡 Twelve Years. One Roof. One Very Special Christmas.
For the first time in 12 years, Michael Durk had his whole family together under the same roof.

With loved ones travelling all the way from the UK, this past Christmas wasn’t just a holiday - it was a long-awaited reunion.

Michael booked Transition House, owned by Alinea and operated by Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA), so his family could stay together comfortably and create memories that distance had delayed for over a decade.

Moments like this are why Transition House exists - to provide a welcoming, accessible space where connection comes first.

🏆 Introducing Alinea’s new WHS Certificate of Appreciation! 🏆

We’re proud to launch a new initiative recognising staff who go above and beyond to promote workplace health and safety across our organisation.

Our inaugural recipient is Daniel Barry, one of our dedicated truck drivers, who has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership and care while supporting our Supported Employees.

While clearing areas around and within our donation bins, Daniel identified and managed a significant biological hazard, taking immediate action to ensure the safety of everyone on site.
Daniel’s professionalism, commitment, and genuine concern for others reflects the very best of Alinea’s values - and we’re proud to acknowledge him as a friendly, valued, and highly respected member of our team.

👏 Congratulations Daniel and thank you for putting safety first.

Pictured is Daniel receiving the award and a gift voucher as a token of our appreciation from Alinea Executive Director Shane Yensch.

February Safety Month at Alinea is focusing on the risk of snake bites.

With summer bringing warmer weather, snakes are more active across many parts of Australia. While snake bites are uncommon, they can be serious and require immediate medical attention.

Australia is home to some of the world’s most venomous snakes, and encounters can occur not only in bushland, but also in suburban areas, workplaces, and around homes. People working outdoors or spending time in gardens, parks, or regional areas are at higher risk during the warmer months.

Simple precautions can greatly reduce risk: staying alert in long grass or bushland, wearing enclosed footwear, and knowing basic first aid steps in case of a bite.

Being informed and prepared can make a critical difference - protecting yourself, your colleagues, and those you support, both at work and in everyday life.
