You’ve done everything right. Tests say your body should work perfectly. Yet here you are, wondering what you’re missing.

“Normal” results often end conversations rather than opening them. But so much happens between those tests — daily fluctuations, egg quality, microscopic timing that makes all the difference.

Your intuition that something’s off? Valid. Your frustration with investigation pace? Reasonable. Sometimes answers aren’t in standard tests — they’re in advanced diagnostics or providers who treat unexplained infertility as a puzzle, not a waiting game.

How do you advocate for yourself when doctors seem satisfied with “normal” but you know something feels off?

After years of advocacy, heartbreak, and families forced to leave WA for basic reproductive care — the government finally listened.

Parenthood shouldn’t depend on your sexual orientation, relationship status, or gender identity. For too long, loving families have been denied equal recognition under WA law.

The reforms remove long-standing barriers for same-sex couples, single people, and transgender Western Australians, bringing WA into line with Victoria, SA, NSW, ACT, and Queensland.

It’s about time WA caught up!

We talk a lot about ovulation, egg counts, and hormones — but fertility isn’t just a biological story.
It’s social, economic, and environmental too.

At ESHRE last year, I shared data exploring how stress, work patterns, and access to care influence fertility across a lifetime — and why early awareness is key.

If we want to change outcomes for the next generation, we need to broaden how we talk about reproductive health.

What do you think has changed most for this generation when it comes to fertility and family planning?

What a month September has been!

From teaching brilliant year 5 students about puberty at MLC, to connecting with incredible colleagues across Australia - my heart is so full from all these meaningful conversations about women’s health.

September highlights:
→ Teaching year 5s at MLC about puberty (honestly, their questions were better than some medical conferences!)
→ Meeting the gorgeous Anna Clare at the Australian Menopause Society conference
→ Presenting and connecting with Lucinda Lines at the Fertility Society of Australia and NZ
→ Catching up with amazing humans like Dr. Tal Jacobson and Stef

Every conversation, every presentation, every curious question from those young minds reminds me why I LOVE what I do. We’re not just treating conditions - we’re educating, empowering, and changing how women understand their bodies.

Already planning what October will bring!

In IVF, embryo grading is one of the tools we use to decide which embryo to transfer first.

It’s based on appearance — how expanded the blastocyst is, the quality of the inner cell mass, and the quality of the outer layer of cells.

While higher grades can have slightly better implantation rates, grading alone can’t tell us if an embryo is chromosomally normal or predict miscarriage risk.

That’s why embryo grading works best when combined with other information — like your age, medical history, and sometimes genetic testing results — to guide decisions and give you the clearest picture of your options.

“Does the thickness of your uterine lining really matter?”

The short answer: yes.

Your endometrium (the lining of the uterus) is where the embryo needs to implant — and research shows that thickness counts.

✨ Pregnancy rates tend to peak around 10 mm.
⚠️ If it’s under 7 mm, implantation can be much harder.
But here’s the kicker: it’s not just about the number.

A lining that’s too thin, or unusually thick, can sometimes point to other issues — like hormones being out of sync, reduced blood flow, or structural changes in the uterus.

The good news? There are options. From medication tweaks to blood-flow support, your fertility specialist can help figure out what’s behind the numbers and what can be done next.

💬 Have you ever had your lining measured in a cycle?

Fertility treatment comes with enough decisions — and then there’s the “extras” your clinic might offer.

These are often called IVF add-ons, and they can sound promising. But in Australia, many of them don’t yet have strong evidence to prove they improve live birth rates for everyone.

Some may help in specific cases. Others may simply add cost without changing your outcome.

Knowing the difference matters — not just for your budget, but for your peace of mind during an already emotional process.

If you’ve been offered an add-on and aren’t sure whether it’s worth it, it’s okay to ask: What does the evidence say for someone like me?

Some of the most important things I’ve learned — and now teach — are the ones no one tells you early enough.

Not to scare you. But to prepare you.

Fertility is complex. The more you understand your body, your options, and the science behind it — the more empowered your decisions will be.

If you're navigating this season, or even just thinking about your future fertility, I hope this gives you a head start.

Progesterone support plays a big role in early pregnancy after IVF, but knowing how long to stay on it (and why) can feel confusing, especially when guidance varies across clinics.

In this post, I walk through the general timeline for fresh transfers, what happens if you get a positive result, and when it’s typically safe to start weaning off.

Always speak with your fertility specialist before making changes — but if you’ve ever wondered how it works, this is a good place to start.

Western Australia is poised to bring its surrogacy and IVF laws into the 21st century.

The new 2025 legislation aims to remove outdated barriers — enabling inclusive access to surrogacy, IVF, genetic testing, and donor information. It finally recognises that family comes in many forms, and that the laws should reflect that reality.

For years, WA’s restrictive rules forced many LGBTQIA+, trans, and single individuals to pursue international surrogacy — with no guarantee of legal recognition, even after returning home.

These reforms could change that. They prioritise fairness, safety, and the rights of all families.

What do you think about these changes — and how might they impact people in your community?

In my recent Live Q&A, we unpacked three big questions I often get in clinic:

→ Does vitamin D help improve IVF outcomes?
→ Should I take progesterone after miscarriage?
→ Does IVF increase blood pressure risks in pregnancy?

These aren’t just technical details — they shape how we personalise treatment and support you through each phase of the journey.
