🎬 Exciting news! What About Sal premieres on Netflix in Australia and New Zealand today!

This great Aussie film stars the talented Gerard O'Dwyer as Sal and John Jarratt as his dad. Sal is a young man with Down syndrome on a big journey to find the rock star father he’s never met. It’s a story about family, identity and speaking up.

This is a proud moment for everyone involved in the film and for our community. It’s rare to see people with disability at the heart of a story told in such a real and human way.

We’d love you to watch it, share it and help spread the word. The more people who watch, the more likely it is to reach audiences around the world.

This informal catch-up is a wonderful opportunity for families living south of the river to connect with others raising a child with Down syndrome aged 0 to 2. Whether you’re navigating the early days of parenthood or simply looking to build your support network, we aim to create a warm and inclusive space where you can feel comfortable sharing your experiences or just enjoying a chat.

Our goal is to foster a strong sense of community, where parents can come together to laugh, connect, and support one another on this unique journey. Both mums and dads are welcome, and we’d love to see you there with your little one.

Down Syndrome Australia has joined with other national disability organisations to call for a fair and human rights-based way to people’s NDIA needs assessments.

DSA has joined with other national disability organisations to call for a fair and human rights-based way to people’s NDIA needs assessments.

We want to see a system built on respect, co-design and trusted relationships.

Together, we’ve written a joint statement with key recommendations to help guide the government and NDIA as they design a new way to assess people’s needs and set NDIS budgets.
