Sometimes support looks like space to create 🎨

Thanks to a Life’s Possibilities grant, Letisha received funding for art supplies so she can keep doing what she loves.

Letisha is a Gooniyandi/Ngaanyatjarra designer and artist, currently supported through Brightwater’s Oats Street Rehabilitation program. For her, art is a way of telling stories, staying connected to Country and spending time doing something that feels meaningful.

Looks like Twinkle the Elf has well and truly settled in for the silly season.

So far he’s climbed all over the place, poured himself a drink… and even managed to make a bit of a mess of himself 😳

Oh dear.

This International Volunteer Day. To mark the special day, we’re celebrating the incredible contribution of our Warnbro volunteer Erica Peet, who recently marked an amazing 25 years with Brightwater!

John has also volunteered at Warnbro for 25 years. Together, they’ve become a much-loved part of the Brightwater Warnbro community.

Staff and residents held a special morning tea to thank Erica for her kindness, generosity and the many hours she has given over the years.

A huge thank you to Erica and to all our wonderful volunteers for the heart and energy you bring to Brightwater. You make a real difference every day.

This International Day of People with Disability, we’re celebrating everyday achievements that support independence and wellbeing including John May’s.

John lives with Huntington’s disease and prefers exercising at home. Thanks to a Life’s Possibilities grant, he now has his own treadmill. Having his own equipment at home has helped him get back into a routine that keeps him mobile, calm and motivated - especially with his furry friend by his side.

Life’s Possibilities is funded through generous donations and helps fulfil meaningful wishes across Brightwater services.

Today we recognise the strengths and contributions of people with disability. John’s story shows what’s possible when people are supported to live life their way.

Jason may have shifted out of home, but he certainly hasn’t shifted away from what he loves 🎳

Every Saturday like clockwork, you’ll find him lacing up his bowling shoes, repping his league shirt and completely in his element.

Living with young onset dementia comes with its challenges, which is why staying connected to the things that light you up matters more than ever.

For Jason, that’s bowling.... and we think that’s pretty special!

Madeley was glowing a little extra recently as staff and residents came together to celebrate Diwali. From bright smiles to even brighter decorations, the Festival of Lights certainly lived up to its name! 🪔✨

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special, lighting up the home in more ways than one.

A Day of Art and Ocean Air! 🎨🌊

Last week, residents from The Cove enjoyed a wonderful community bus outing to the Castaways Sculptures by the Sea at the beautiful Rockingham Foreshore.

With the sun shining and the sea breeze keeping them company, they strolled along the coastal trail admiring the incredible art sculptures, each one more imaginative than the last! From colourful sculptures to thought-provoking installations, there was plenty to spark conversation and smiles.

A big thank you to our team for making the day smooth and special, and to the artists for sharing such inspiring work with the community.

Today, on Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all who have served, and continue to serve, our country in times of war, conflict, and peacekeeping.

At Brightwater, we reflect with deep gratitude on the lives lost and the legacy left behind.

To our clients, residents, families, staff, and community members, many of whom carry personal memories of service or loss, our thoughts are with you.

At 11am, we will observe a minute's silence to remember and respect those who gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Lest We Forget.
