Front Runner Trained Profile: Toni Heinemann
Toni has been training with the team for well over a decade and achieved incredible results, highlighted by national marathon team🥈 and a 2.47 Marathon PB. She is now building up around a busy work and family life for new goals.
➡️When did you get started on your running journey?
I started running consistently in uni in 2005- just 4-5km a day for my mental health. A work colleague finally (after 6 months of convincing me) got me to come along to some FR sessions in 2011/12 I think..
➡️Summarise what running means to you in one sentence...
Moments of calm, joy and quiet, also showing my kids that hard work and commitment pays off if its something that brings you meaning.
➡️Describe your current weekly training programme?
Run 6 times a week, recovery or cross training day and 2 brief strength sessions (one at gym and one at home)
➡️What are your current PB’s?
1:20 half, 2:47 pre kids
1:25 half, 3:01 post kids
➡️What is your proudest running achievement to date?
Probably my marathon PB in Berlin 2017 as took a lot of work to get there but also was something incredibly special about running my first marathon in 2024 with my 2 kids on the sideline. This was always my dream and running now is more about the process than the results.
➡️How long have you been with Front Runner & who is your Front Runner coach?
2012 or 11, Ben Green
➡️What have you valued most about being a athlete
The friendships I have made from the community
➡️Favourite training buddies?
Im grateful for Brendan, Em and Sarah who have been running with me since early FR days and meet me early for the social chats. I generally run a lot on my own which I have come to enjoy too.
➡️What are your short (next 12 months) and long-term goals in running?
Short term: run a sub 3 hour marathon again
Long term: continue to fit running into life in a fun and enjoyable way
➡️If you could give one piece of advice about running what would it be?
Dont be afraid to take rest days, took me years to learn this!
