People often ask me… “Julie, how do you start your day?”

Running Silkwood Funerals is not just a profession it’s a calling. And to walk alongside families in their most tender moments, I need to begin each day grounded, grateful and prepared.

My day starts early — 4:30am.

Before the world wakes, I take a quiet moment to prepare for the day ahead. By 5:00am, I’m making a coffee for my beautiful husband Todd. It’s our small ritual a simple act of love before the pace of the day begins.

We both then get ready, side by side, preparing ourselves for whatever the day may bring. By 6:30am, we are ready to step into our roles knowing that every day in this profession is different, and every family deserves our very best.

You’ll often find me at my local coffee shop on Terrace Road, connecting with some of the locals, sharing a smile, and taking a moment to prepare my mind and soul. It’s in those quiet early conversations and reflections that I centre myself because the work we do at Silkwood requires presence, compassion and strength.

By the time I arrive at the funeral home, I am ready ready to give, ready to listen, ready to serve.

Because when families walk through our doors, they deserve more than a service.
They deserve heart. They deserve care.
They deserve someone fully present.

And that is why I start my day the way I do.

In moments that matter, we give our all. 🤍

Today was a deeply difficult day as we walked alongside Shane’s family, while his beautiful wife and five young children gathered to say goodbye to their much-loved daddy.

A life taken far too soon and so suddenly leaves a silence that words can never truly fill. As hundreds of family and friends came together at Karrakatta Cemetery, the love, strength, and support surrounding Shane’s family was truly felt by all.

Our hearts are heavy, and our thoughts and prayers remain with you as you navigate the days ahead.

Chantelle, thank you for the trust you placed in us to care for your beautiful man. It was an honour to stand beside your family in such a tender and heartbreaking moment.

With heartfelt appreciation to Amanda Rowe, Celebrant, for guiding the service with such grace, compassion, and dignity.

With love
Julie 🤍

Silkwood Funerals is once again deeply privileged to walk the sacred aisles of St George’s Cathedral in Perth, honouring and celebrating the life of the much-loved Jennifer Stokic.

To stand within such a beautiful and historic place, surrounded by family, friends, and heartfelt memories, is always a profound reminder of the importance of love, legacy, and community. It is truly an honour to be entrusted with caring for Jennifer and to walk gently alongside her family during this tender time.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathy remain with the Stokic family as they gather to remember a life so meaningful and cherished.

Honoured to Serve the Vietnamese Community

It was a true honour for Silkwood Funerals and our dedicated team to care for and walk alongside the Vietnamese community as they gathered to celebrate the life of a well-known and deeply respected identity.

Funerals within Vietnamese culture hold profound meaning. They are not only a farewell, but a sacred expression of love, respect, family unity, and remembrance. Guided by strong traditions and deep reverence for ancestors, these ceremonies are rich in symbolism, prayer, and togetherness.

Within the Catholic faith, the Funeral Mass becomes a moment of both sorrow and hope — a time to commend a loved one into God’s eternal care while surrounding the family with prayer, compassion, and unwavering community support. Witnessing this devotion and the beautiful way families honour their loved ones is always deeply moving.

At Silkwood Funerals, we feel privileged to support families from all cultures and faiths across Western Australia. To be entrusted with such an important moment in the Vietnamese community is something we hold with great respect and gratitude.

To the family and community, thank you for allowing us to serve you in moments that matter.
