Not all belly fat is the same. Subcutaneous fat sits just beneath the skin and, in some cases, may be treated surgically. Visceral fat lies deeper around the organs and cannot be addressed through surgery, it requires lifestyle, dietary and sometimes medical management.

Recognising the difference is an important step in understanding what options may, or may not, be suitable.

Read our latest blog to learn more about the two types of belly fat and the role of surgery (link in bio).

Breast reduction is about more than appearance.
For many patients, it not only relieves neck, shoulder, and back pain — it can also improve posture, make exercise easier, and even enhance sleep quality.

Dr Rohan Page, Specialist Plastic Surgeon, performs this procedure with a focus on proportionality, function, and long-term wellbeing.

The weeks after surgery are when your body does its most important healing. Returning to normal routines too quickly can place extra strain on wounds, increase swelling and discomfort, and make it harder for tissues to settle as expected. Support garments are designed to reduce these risks, and switching out of them too soon can interrupt the healing process.

Skipping follow-up appointments or pushing past activity restrictions also means your surgeon may not spot early issues when they are easiest to manage. In short, taking recovery slowly helps protect the work that has already been done in theatre.

For advice specific to your procedure, always follow the post-operative instructions provided by your surgeon and healthcare team.

STRESS & SURGERY

High stress levels and fatigue can influence how your body responds before and after surgery. Research shows that ongoing stress may affect sleep quality, immune function, and the body’s ability to heal. Taking steps to rest, maintain healthy routines, and seek emotional support can help you feel more prepared for your procedure. Mental wellbeing is a key part of overall health, so speak with your healthcare team about strategies that are right for you.
