What’s better than a freshly squeezed fruit juice?? All the pulp you throw away! The FLESH is where the FIBRE is found 😍 This fibre is used as a fuel source for colonic cells, which in turn keep our intestines heathy! So in order to slow digestion and regulate blood glucose levels, swap your morning juice for a smoothie instead and know you are helping cultivate the miniature garden growing inside of you!

MEAL REPLACEMENT V PROTEIN SHAKES
I’ve had a few people ask me about store bought meal replacement shakes and how they differ to protein shakes, so I thought I would share a few points!
Meal Replacement Shakes:
▪️ Contain a balanced mix of macronutrients (P/C/F)
▪️ Higher in calories and are therefore more filling
▪️ Contain Vitamins and Minerals from added vegetable sources
▪️ Perfect as a snack to bridge the gap between meals, or as a complete meal
Protein Shakes:
▪️ High Protein, low Carbs and Fats
▪️ A supplement used for post workout nutrition, particularly with bodybuilders who require a higher intake of protein
▪️ Generally don’t contain added vitamins and minerals
▪️ Not a complete meal!!
Therefore, if you are looking to add liquid meals to your diet, a protein shake isn’t going to cut it! Add in a handful of greens, some frozen fruit as a carb source and your favourite nut butter or avocado! There you go, an easy meal in a cup! 🥦🥑🍓

There is so much packed into summer fruit, beyond just essential vitamins and minerals! For example, did you know that papaya and pineapple both naturally contain digestive enzymes? Digestive enzymes help break down the macronutrients we eat into their simpler forms, such as amino acids, fatty acids and simple sugars. 🍍 Papain and bromelain found in papaya and pineapple help break down proteins, aiding their digestion and absorption! 🍍
Other amazing fruits include mangoes, bananas, avocados and kiwi fruit 🥝 All the more reason to get two serves a day! 📷

At this time of year there is a lot of talk about goal setting and making lifestyle changes, and no doubt you’ve probably seen a few people posting borderline outrageous claims in the past few days 😳 This may have left you feeling a little overwhelmed or worried you aren’t ‘changing enough’ about yourself to fulfill your ‘New year, new me’ goal!
Until recently, this was me! I didn’t have a dramatic, insta-worthy goal for the year and therefore didn’t feel it necessary to share my thoughts for the year ahead.
But I’ve actually realised this: the completion of any goal, no matter how small, will be life changing! It will alter the course of your life and set you on a different path than you were on before. Isn’t that amazing?!
So stop comparing your goals to those of others, because it is your goals and plans for the year which will take you exactly where you need to be in 2019 ☺️

How many of you are setting the same goals as your New Years Resolutions as you did last year? 🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️
What are the barriers in place preventing you from reaching your goals or getting results? 🤔
Whether you have a health goal such as eating healthier or exercising more, or a lifestyle goal such as starting a new hobby or quitting a job you hate, it is important you plan ahead for the barriers which may arise so that they don’t throw you off track in the future!
For example, as a nutritionist I see many people wishing to eat healthier in the new year but have no idea how to put together a healthy meal or make clean eating fun and even exciting! They may have the right intentions but without the right tools they will never reach their goal. Now is the time to think about the barriers which may arise in the future, whether it be a week or months down the track, and have a plan in place for what you will do if this happens. As they say, a goal without a plan is just a wish!

I can’t believe our 10 week holistic health program has come to an end 😩 doesn’t time just fly at this end of the year!
I have absolutely loved getting to know these beautiful and hard-working ladies as we sweated it out and learnt together! Not only did they all make changes in their measurements and physical strength, but also learnt the skills needed to make healthy food choices 🙌🏼 Working alongside Wiebke's Personal Training has been a dream and I can’t wait for our next program coming in 2019! @ Perth, Western Australia
