As we step into the new year, many people are rethinking their diets as part of their New Year’s resolutions.

What we eat plays a powerful role in hormone health. Hormones rely on key building blocks: protein, healthy fats and fibre.

Fibre helps produce acetate, a key metabolic precursor for the production of cholesterol. Healthy fats are essential because cholesterol is required for producing all steroid hormones, including s*x hormones. Cholesterol converts into pregnenolone in a process that requires protein. Pregnenolone then converts into DHEA. This is the mother hormone that is then converted into everything else.

Focusing on whole foods rich in protein, fat and fibre is an excellent way to promote healthy hormone production naturally.

Did you know that the health of your toes and feet have a big impact on the overall health of your balance, posture and injury prevention?

Toes are believed to carry 40% of our weight when walking and running and act as a shock absorber while performing physical activity.

Give your toes and feet some love by incorporating some of these stretches and exercises into your movement routines

🦶🏿 Heel raises: While standing, lift your heels off the floor, rising onto your tiptoes. Hold, then slowly lower.

🦶🏿 Toe Splay: Sit with your feet flat on the floor and spread your toes as wide as possible. Hold for a few seconds, then relax.

🦶🏿 Towel Scrunch:
Place a towel under your foot and use your toes to scrunch it up toward you.

🦶🏿 Marble Pick-ups:
Sit with marbles on the floor and use your toes to pick them up one by one.

🦶🏿 Foot Alphabet:
Extend one leg and “draw” the letters of the alphabet in the air with your foot.

🦶🏿 Big Toe Stretch:
Gently pull your big toe up, down, and to the side with your fingers to increase its range of motion
