Pelvic Curl Progression

⚪️ Tuck p***c bone to belly button, push into your heels and squeeze your glutes as you roll the spine up one vertebrae at a time until knees, hips and shoulders are in a diagonal line. Hold then slowly uncurl your spine melting back into the ground one bone at a time

⚪️ Once you have curled up, hold strong as you open and close your knees with control. Do as many openings as you can while maintaining a strong core and even, lifted hips

⚪️ When in a lifted position, ground strong through one foot and raise the other to tabletop, alternating legs. Focus on keeping the hips parallel with the ground

⚪️ Lift one foot into tabletop and perform the pelvic curl on a single leg. Alternate sides or do multiple reps before switching

Use your stability and strength through your deep abdominals to give you feedback at what level to focus on before moving on

Meet our newest team member ✨

I’m Lee, one of the Chiropractic Assistants here at Mindarie Chiropractic Centre and currently studying my Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance. With a background in sports and a big passion for rehabilitation, I’ve loved learning how chiropractic care can help people move better, recover faster, and get back to doing what they enjoy most.

Outside the clinic, I’m a proud dog mum to Shohei, coffee lover, and South African now calling Perth home. Most days you’ll find me with my partner Pri, out and about, keeping active, or enjoying some beach time.

Moving your body first thing in the morning can help set the tone of your day. When you wake up, give yourself 10 minutes to breathe through these exercises and feel the difference of the day ✨

~ Child’s pose - stretches the entire back and compresses the hip joints temporarily
~ Sphynx - opens the chest, abdominals and through the front of the hips
~ Cat Cow - stretches and helps create movement through the whole spine
~ Neck stretch - for the neck, trapezius and shoulders
~ Seated side stretch - helps create space through ribs and abdomen
~ Forward fold plus twist - stretches the whole back chain of the body including hamstrings, glutes, low back and thoracic. Also helps decompress the cervical spine and neck. Adding the twist helps create space through space through the ribs and whole upper body
~ Standing Quad stretch - one for quads and hip flexors PLUS works on your balance
~ Butterfly - restorative pose and opens the hips

♥️ HEART RATE VARIABILITY ♥️

Most people understand the importance of maintaining a healthy heart rate. However, fewer people realise that the natural variation in heart rate, known as heart rate variability (HRV), is equally important.

HRV reflects your body’s ability to adapt to changes in your environment- whether resting, exercising or responding to emotions like stress or joy. Controlled by your autonomic nervous system, a high HRV is considered a sign of a healthy heart and body, capable of adjusting appropriately to varying demands.

As part of our Wellness Checks, we assess HRV to get a better understanding of your whole-body function and your body’s ability to sense and respond to changes. If you or someone you know would benefit from a performance review, contact our team!

CONCUSSION

Concussion is described as a traumatic brain injury resulting from biomechanical forces to the body, including the head and neck. These injuries can lead to changes in the brain and result in symptoms including dizziness, nausea and altered cognition.

Research suggests that factors including cervical spine posture, neck strength and activation of neck muscles play a key role in reducing the incidence and severity of concussions.

If you know a community sports team who would like to know more about concussions and how chiropractic can help restore the body’s natural rhythm and optimise movement and positioning of the spine, contact us to arrange a concussion talk at your club!

✨ Supporting Mamas, Naturally ✨

Pregnancy is a beautiful journey—but it can come with challenges like back pain, pelvic discomfort, and sciatica.
Chiropractic care helps support a mother’s changing body by restoring movement, improving alignment, and easing tension as her centre of gravity shifts.
Gentle adjustments may also encourage optimal foetal positioning and promote a smoother, more comfortable labour and delivery.
🤰 A well-aligned spine = a more balanced body for both mama and baby.

Exercising in sync with your menstrual cycle can be a great way to maximize your energy, prevent injury, and optimize performance.

Day 1 of your cycle starts on the first day of your bleed. During your period you may notice your energy levels are lower as your hormones come down to baseline. Everyone experiences their periods differently and it is important to listen to your body and its needs, particularly during this time. You may find that lighter activities like walking, yoga and gentle stretching best during this time and may help alleviate any period symptoms such as cramping. This is the space to take things easy if that is what your body is telling you.

During your follicular phase, oestrogen levels rise, and you may notice a change in your energy and mood. This is typically the best time to lose weight and aim for your personal bests at the gym. If you’re considering trying that high intensity work out, this is the phase to do it.

The ovulatory phase is typically when women feel their best. This is when most women feel the most confident and social. If you’ve been thinking about trying to get into that team sport or group fitness class, this is a great time to try!

Progesterone takes centre stage during your luteal phase. You may notice a dip in your energy and changes to your mood and social battery. Your body is also more susceptible to injury during this phase due to increased ligament laxity. This is where you may want to slow things down. Exercises like cycling, light weight resistance and Pilates are a good focus.

Varying your workout regime to your body’s natural rhythm and flow can help you get the most out of your exercise and be your best self.
