Collaborative Innovation: Precast Masonry Gun Barrel Arched Ceiling

This unique project showcased the collaborative strength of our Formwork, Masonry, and Precast Divisions in delivering a Precast Masonry Gun Barrel Arched Ceiling as part of an underground wine cellar.

The ceiling was entirely constructed and finished off-site, demonstrating a seamless blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern construction methods. This off-site approach ensured exceptional quality control while significantly reducing on-site labour and time.

Once completed, the precast unit was transported to the project site and installed in under an hour, allowing for rapid continuation of other works, including the cellar wall construction. This efficient installation not only minimised disruption but also highlighted the effectiveness of advanced planning and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The result is a structurally sound and aesthetically striking feature that celebrates both heritage techniques and contemporary building innovation.

The topics covered were not only relevant but also highly applicable to our day-to-day roles, offering valuable insights into leadership dynamics. It was evident that the workshop fostered a strong sense of teamwork within the group, enhancing collaboration and mutual understanding.

Our Precast and Contracting divisions collaborated to successfully deliver two new precast concrete ramps. This project was undertaken as a part of a design and construct contract for the City of Stirling, aimed at upgrading the Balcatta Recycling Facility.

Project Details:
• Objective: To design, supply, install, and construct two precast concrete ramps engineered for 25 Tonne Machines.
• Demolition: The old ramps were demolished as part of the upgrade works.
• Construction: Using robust precast concrete technology, the new ramps were efficiently installed, each within a time frame of less than three weeks.
