After returning to study at TAFE and earning her Advanced Diploma, Tanita has built a career capturing women in business and wellness retreats — before following her gut into teaching photography, especially smartphone skills. She shares what it’s really like to shoot branding sessions versus retreats (think “silent ninja”), how COVID derailed travel and nudged her towards workshops and online delivery, and the milestones that kept her going.

📱How great is the Clean Up Function on our iPhones?! The perfect way to remove random objects or people in our photos. Especially great for travel photos when it’s rare to find a deserted street.
The feature is improving each update but just be careful not to accidentally modify the original photo by overdoing it! It can look strange!

💛 Had the best conversation with Erin on podcast today – loved every second of it!

We talked about my business journey – the lessons, milestones, and what’s ahead. It was such good reflection, looking back on where I’ve been and where I’m going. From branding shoots, retreat photography and now smartphone workshops and teaching.

I also loved talking about the importance of community to me and all the connections I’ve made over the years.

Erin made me feel so relaxed and welcome, the conversation just flowed, and I loved sharing a bit of me and my ‘rollercoaster’ biz journey.

💛When I started running smartphone photography workshops a few years back, I honestly had no idea they’d take off as much as they have. But here we are, and I’m absolutely loving it!

At the moment, I’m about to present a three-week course for Glyde-In Community Centre – an immersive, in-depth and practical course full of fun.

My workshops keep growing and evolving, which is amazing, but the best part is still the people. Meeting you all, connecting face-to-face, sharing what I know and soaking up everyone’s unique perspective on photography – that’s the real magic.

There’s something special about watching someone’s face light up when they finally feel more confidence with their phone or finally “get” a technique they’ve been struggling with. It’s a great feeling, I just love teaching! 💛
