Remember: When a Woman is running around doing a lot, it’s because somewhere along the way she wasn’t supported or people failed to show up for her.

Women generally don’t choose to constantly work, cook, clean, be an uber for everyone, study, be a wife, a babysitter, a teacher, a carer (and the list goes on) all at the same time. They are doing it all because they HAD to. If they could’ve chosen they would’ve focused on one or maybe things at a time.

So next time you see a Woman doing it all on her own, ask her “How can I support you or take one thing off your shoulders today?”

Force: Active (when it moves you, passive when it stagnates you)

Benefits: It helps people regulate social behaviour. It helps you care about how you are seen by others and realise how your actions may affect others. Brings awareness of who is important to you and who isn’t. Encourages Self-Reflection and helps to create moral boundaries.

Disadvantages: Shame can create a negative perception of Self. Others can use Shame as a weapon against you and you can use it as a weapon against yourself. Can become reason for self-punishment rather than what it was meant for which is growth.

Antidotes: Approval, Respect, Self-Esteem, Praise, Acceptance

Trigger Awareness: When did you first feel Shame? What happened, with who? Who was ashamed, was it you or another? How important are they to you? If you or another makes a mistake what does that mean about you or them? Do you approve of making mistakes? Do you respect yourself? Are you capable of being accepting of others?

Every time He says sorry, what She wanted to hear was thank you 🙏🏻 for something. How successfully He finds out what He needed to be thankful for, will tell you whether He truely understood what He was sorry for.

For example:
When he says “I’m sorry I was late”
What she wanted to hear was “Thank you for waiting for me”

When he says ”I’m sorry I didn’t do the dishes”
What she wanted to hear was “Thank you for taking care of us and our home”

When he says ”I’m sorry I don’t help out more with the kids”
What she wanted to hear was “Thank you for being such an amazing Mother that does so much for our kids”

When he says “I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you”
What she wanted to hear was ”Thank you for being so patient with me”

When he says “I’m sorry I looked at the other girl”
What she wanted to hear is “Thank you for being so beautiful, thank you for being so understanding of me and thank you for not leaving me”

Thank you brings understanding and an opportunity for change, while Sorry can be an empty word without understanding and positive movement forward.

I worry for Relationships in the future if healthy masculinity isn’t being taught.

Quite simply a Woman cannot feel safe and secure around a Man who is emotionally unstable and unpredictable. When a Man does this He is forcing out her caring and nurturing maternal side towards him. Turning him into the little boy and her the Mother.

As a Couples Counsellor I see Women constantly complaining that they hate having to Mother their partner.

Furthermore, when a Man is unsure of how to lead the family and unpredictable, She has to take responsibility and take on most of the load. Forcing her into independence and leadership.

Often people take on leadership, responsibility and independence because the people around them weren’t capable of doing it so they did this in order to survive. If they had a great mentor and guardian growing up they learnt these qualities through observation.

Regardless, Women are becoming more independent as a result of Men playing less and less of a role of stable, predictable and rational leadership.

Teaching Men how to become more emotional and in touch with their “feelings” it’s not what is going to save Relationships in the future. It’s very specific characteristics that need to be developed.

Up until now my signature creation “8 Selves Therapy” has been changing many lives, and now… I’ve been working intensively on creating an 8 Selves Therapist program specifically for Men! It will help Men step further into healthy, modern masculinity so they can become the Man their Woman can’t live without.

This will be like an 8 Selves Therapy (8ST) part 2, As it will be targeted to Men who’ve done their inner child work of the first 8 Selves (8ST) and are ready to step up and consistently show up for their partner and their family.

How to know when someone has a personality disorder…. just 2 basic things to look for 1. Limited personality traits which means they repeat the same behaviours over and over again ultimately don’t have resourceful problem solving skills, 2. The inability to Self reflect and Self Correct which mean they lack self awareness.

PD is not a medical condition. Therefore medication doesn’t work for Personality Disorders. You can’t swallow a pill to be more flexible or a pill to gain critical thinking skills. PD is a neurotic and repetitive condition. Not a medical condition such as depression that has “Symptoms". PD doesn’t have symptoms to be treated, it is merely a lack of “traits and characteristics” that haven’t been attained. Someone with PD merely hasn’t developed and attained certain skills. Which is why problem solving Therapies work best.

Which is why 8 Selves Therapy works so well to help people gain skills, traits, resources and characteristics for a healthier more fuller toolkit for daily problem solving.

Unfortunately, when a Personality Disorder is present you can tell immediately because PD people will persist with a behaviour despite negative consequences to their choices. When someone with PD comes up against resistance to change they will immediately STOP therapy and their personal growth quickly comes to a halt. You can often tell the level of rigidity in their patterns and ways of thinking based on where in the 8 Selves Therapy they become stuck or quit Therapy. Often it’s within the first few Selves they can’t move past resistance and insist on staying stuck.

The wonderful thing about being a Counsellor is the constant growth that comes from all the courses you have to do to maintain you credentials. My career is my eternal evolution. This subject is interesting because my majors is in relationship counselling.

Are you aware of how many intelligent, educated women still fall prey to emotional abuse and gaslighting? Intelligence sadly, doesn’t make you immune to this type of coercive control. Interestingly studies show that there is a very particular type of Woman that is most susceptible to this type of abuse, you’ll be surprised to note that it’s NOT a history of abuse.

In fact intelligence is actually one of these what they call “Super Traits” preditory partners look for. Along with a few other traits like goal orientated, ambitious. empathic, agreeableness, loyal make Women the perfect candidate for pathological relationships. Quite simply because these traits can actually be used a collateral against you.

This is very different to Domestic Violence Relationships which in fact are most common due to a history or abuse and trauma.

A great Counsellor needs to understand the difference between DV Relationships and Pathological Love Relationships because the signals within clients, treatment and trauma is very different to each other.

Most people don’t know the difference between Repression and Suppression. Let me give you a quick run down.

Repression is a forgotten trauma, something that was buried deep inside that later becomes a feeling without thinking behind it because your body remembers even though your mind doesn’t. This is where issues like PTSD, unexplained phobias, obsessions, compulsions etc… take place and when you ask someone to get to the root of the issues they never remember where it started.

Suppression is when one chooses to not feel at that moment and has the ability to fight the battle at another time when they are calm and able to think. Suppression can look like masking the uncomfortable emotions with humour, altruism or looking disinterest or even sublimation and brushing feelings under the rug.

Through studies Repression has proven to cause negative impacts on a person’s mental and emotional maturity. However Suppression has actually proven to be a sign of emotional maturely and people who had the ability to suppress in healthy ways and under the right circumstances where actually less likely to suffer from depression.

What stands out to me with these 2 options is “Choice”. With repression there seems to be no choice to it. With suppression there is still the awareness that you can choose it.
