The Winter Olympics may be over but the Rockingham Summer Olympics heated up this week! 🏅🔥

Supported Accommodation athlete Malcolm competed with housemate Debbie in a friendly but fierce competition, in which they both took home medals. 🏆

Inspired by Malcolm’s love of the Winter Olympics, which he’s been avidly following, support workers Nakya and Elli hosted their very own Games right in the living room. ❄️🎿

It’s all part of turning interests into meaningful and fun experiences at home. Interested in what this would look like for you? Check out our SDA and SIL options here: https://www.rockybay.org.au/services/accommodation/

At just a few days old, Annika was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a rare and complex brain malformation, and infantile epileptic spasm syndrome.

Her early months were filled with hospital visits and uncertainty. But at nine months old, Annika connected with Rocky Bay’s Early Start Intervention Program (ESIP), and her family found more than therapy.

“From the moment we started with ESIP, we felt heard,” said Daphne. “They didn’t just focus on Annika’s diagnosis, they cared about our needs as a family.”

Through in-home support from physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and our Paediatric Feeding Team, Annika has made meaningful progress, and her family has gained confidence and hope.

“Trust the process. Early intervention is so important and ESIP is an amazing tool.”

Today, on Rare Disease Day, we’re proud to stand alongside families like Annika’s and advocate for greater awareness, access and support. Read more about Annika's story here: https://www.rockybay.org.au/stories/annikas-journey-and-the-power-of-intervention/
