This live webinar has been developed by the SHQ Disability Counselling and Education Team for counsellors, psychologists, social workers, disability support professionals, behaviour support practitioners, and allied health workers who work with people with disabilities, particularly those involved in responding to or managing s*xual violence, harmful s*xual behaviours, or forensic and safeguarding contexts.

Participants will explore the Affirmative Model of Disability, Australian s*xual violence legislation, current research and statistics, and engage in reflective practice to recognise bias and apply ethical, inclusive counselling approaches that promote accountability and safety.

Join us for two fun-filled days of learning, collaboration, and confidence building activities designed to help youth workers, nurses, counsellors, and others who work with young people provide information and support to young people on consent, respectful relationships and s*xual health.

Participants are also invited to attend an optional third day, Nuts and Bolts PLUS. N&B Plus is an opportunity to hear from sector experts on contemporary issues in s*xual and reproductive health. With guest speakers, a youth sector panel, and resources and referrals, N&B Plus supports workers to ensure currency in their work with young people.

SHQโ€™s menopause clinic is now open to new clients, with appointments available from the end of the month.

Menopause can affect all aspects of your life, particularly physical and mental health as well as self-esteem and relationships, but you donโ€™t have to deal with it alone.

Using the Shared Care Model, our multidisciplinary team of clinicians and counsellors will work in collaboration with your GP to explore options to manage and treat menopausal symptoms, provide menopause support and s*xual and reproductive healthcare catered to your individual needs.

Our services include:
๐Ÿ”ธ Symptom relief (hot flushes, night sweats, sleep, s*xual wellness, weight issues, period problems, mood and memory issues)
๐Ÿ”ธ Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT)
๐Ÿ”ธ S*xual health and wellbeing counselling
๐Ÿ”ธ Individualised care
๐Ÿ”ธ Perimenopause
๐Ÿ”ธ Associated care (contraception inc. IUD insertions, genitourinary care, vulval disorders).

No referral required. For clients with a valid Medicare Card, appointments incur a $55 gap fee.

This new program provides a traumaโ€‘informed, disabilityโ€‘affirming framework for understanding the unique impacts of s*xual assault on young people with diverse communication styles, sensory needs, cognitive profiles, and support environments.

It has been developed for counsellors, psychologists, disability practitioners, social workers, youth workers, and other professionals who support 18 โ€“ 24-year-olds with disabilities.
