A massive thank you to our long time corporate partner, CBH Group, for their commitment to supporting regional communities through their Harvest Mass Management Scheme (HMMS) in collaboration with Main Roads Western Australia 🌾

During harvest, growers can forfeit grain from overloaded trucks, which is then sold and the resulting funds are provided to the HMMS. The 2024/25 harvest marks the largest HMMS donation since the program began in 2012, with a record-breaking donation of $575,000! The funds will be donated to 16 WA charities. This brings the total to more than $3.6 million donated to charities since it began.

The RFDS WA is grateful to be a recipient of a $100,000 donation made possible thanks to this highly impactful scheme.

Thanks to CBH Group and WA's grain growers for choosing to support our service!

They say diamonds last forever… but an engagement ring that size could fly the RFDS pretty far too.

💙 A Tribute to the Sugarbird Lady ❤️

Robin Miller-Dicks’ iconic Mooney M20E (VH-REM) has returned to the skies. After decades away, the beautifully restored plane completed a four day journey from NSW to Broome last weekend, flown by its current owner, Fred Clej.

As part of the tribute, a memorial service was held and the inaugural nursing scholarship in Robin’s name was presented by the Royal Australian Air Force Association at the Notre Dame Broome campus.

✨ Who was the Sugarbird Lady? ✨

Robin Miller-Dicks was both a nurse and a pilot. In the 1960s, she flew her own aircraft into remote communities in WA, delivering the polio vaccine. To hide the bitter taste of the vaccine, she gave the kids a sugar cube with the vaccine - earning her the nickname "The Sugarbird Lady".

Over her career, she administered around 37,000 doses, protecting children across the Kimberley, Pilbara and Goldfields. Though Robin tragically passed away from cancer at just 35 years old, her courage, compassion and innovation has left a lasting legacy.

🚁 World Helicopter Day 🚁

Yesterday we celebrated World Helicopter Day - recognising the power of rotary aircraft in saving lives.

The RFDS Fortescue Heli-Med Service has retrieved 692 patients, including 24 neonatal emergency transfers (NETs).

Behind every number is a patient, a family and a community supported by our dedicated crews in the air and on the ground 💙❤️

The Broome crew hit the road for safety! 🚗

Last week, we teamed up with RAC WA Project Road Smart, Kimberley District - WA Police Force, Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA and St John WA to share an important message with 400 Year 10-12 students from across the Kimberley.

The day featured a powerful docudrama on the real impacts of road trauma, followed by moving talks from guest speakers with lived experiences. Students then met local emergency services on the oval to learn firsthand about their vital roles in keeping our roads safe.

A huge thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success - together, we’re working towards safer roads for everyone 🙌

Abrolhos Islands ➡️ metropolitan hospital for urgent care 🏝️

The retrieval was made possible thanks to seamless teamwork and quick thinking from our crew already on the ground in Geraldton when the call came through from the Rat Island Nursing Post.

“When you’re standing on a remote island, hours from help, it hits home how important teamwork is,” said Flight Nurse Cassie Gaff.

“The coordination between everyone on the ground, in the air, and at the nursing post was incredible - as well as the trust the patient and their family placed in our care, something we never take for granted.” 💙❤️
