❤️ Thanks to generous funding from Telethon7 Perth, Woodside Energy and the Western Australian community, critically ill newborns across WA will benefit from safer, faster and more standardised aeromedical transfers, with new neonatal equipment to be purchased and available at all RFDS WA bases.
The funding will allow us to purchase innovative Stryker stretchers and Cherub neonatal equipment. This standardised equipment also aligns with St John WA's equipment to improving continuity of care across health services.
This is the seventh year the RFDS in WA has received critical funding from Telethon. Funding provided in 2024 supported neonatal transfers through the RFDS Fortescue Heli-Med Service, resulting in 35 neonatal retrievals in 2025. Around 200 total neonatal transfers are conducted by the RFDS in WA across all aircraft types each year 💙
