In Indonesia’s remote island communities, access to specialist medical care is often out of reach. That’s why the John Fawcett Foundation doesn’t wait for patients to come to us, we take our Mobile Eye Clinics directly to their villages.

Over just a few days, our teams:
🔎 Examine hundreds of patients
👓 Distribute prescription glasses
🧪 Treat eye infections
👨🏻‍⚕️ Perform life-changing cataract surgeries, each taking only 15 minutes, yet restoring a lifetime of sight.

Your support makes our offshore programs possible.

A Night for Sight ✨

What an unforgettable evening it was at Tandjung Sari, Sanur, where compassion, culture, and community came together to change lives.

Every ticket purchased, every bid placed, every smile shared, all bring us closer to a future where preventable blindness no longer holds anyone back.

To everyone who joined us, donated, or supported from afar: thank you for helping us turn vision into reality. 🌏👁️

On World Sight Day, we join the global call to , because every life changed by sight is a story worth telling. This year, IAPB puts people at the heart of eye health, demanding that eye care be accessible, available, and affordable for everyone, everywhere.

At the John Fawcett Foundation, that’s what we live every day. Whether it’s performing surgery, arranging post-operative care, or fundraising with transparency, our mission is to make life-changing treatment possible, no matter where you come from.

We believe in these truths:
✅ Early detection and treatment shouldn’t be privileges.
✅ Financial barriers should never stand in the way of restored vision.
✅ Behind every patient is a family, a community, and a story of hope.

Today, we pledge to keep walking that path.

Join us in making sight accessible to all. https://johnfawcett.org/donate-now/.

Meet Susi, one of the dedicated hearts working quietly behind the scenes at the John Fawcett Foundation.

Since 2005, she has been supporting our mission through accounting, finance, HR, and donor reporting, making sure every contribution is managed with care and transparency.

While she doesn’t meet patients directly, her work ensures that life-changing surgeries and treatments can happen every day. The gratitude from patients always finds its way back to her and the team. 🌏✨

This is the impact of teamwork, some on the frontlines, some behind the scenes, all united for the same cause.

Who knew sight could be restored from inside a bus? 🚐

Back in 1991, JFF turned a second-hand school bus into a mobile operating theatre, and we’ve been rolling out free eye care to remote villages ever since.

Preventable blindness remains one of Indonesia’s greatest health challenges.

In 2020, the IAPB estimated that 3.7 million Indonesians were blind, with nearly 65% of cases caused by untreated cataracts. Millions more live with severe visual impairment, and the numbers have only grown since the pandemic.

This October, we continue to fight the challenge through four key programs: Bali Village Eye Programs, Offshore Eye Programs, and Outsourced Eye Clinics.

Every action moves us closer to a future where blindness is no longer holding lives back.

Join us this October in the fight against blindness. Donate here: https://johnfawcett.org/donate-now/

Every day in Indonesia, preventable blindness robs children of their education, parents of their livelihoods, and communities of their future. The John Fawcett Foundation is on the frontlines, restoring sight through cataract surgeries, providing glasses, treating eye infections, and delivering hope where it’s needed most. For those living in darkness, the chance to see again cannot wait.

As we step into the final month of the third quarter of 2025, we are reminded of both our achievements and our challenges.

In 2024, with your generosity, we:

✨ Raised $200,000 to replace outdated operating microscopes
✨ Performed 3,635 cataract surgeries and fitted 134 prosthetic eyes
✨ Launched our first Electronic Medical Record system, paving the way for better care for over 44,000 patients each year

But while these milestones give hope, the need remains overwhelming. Cataract blindness still accounts for up to 80% of preventable blindness in parts of Indonesia. The numbers waiting for help are growing, and our finances remain tight.

Now more than ever, we need your support to continue restoring sight, dignity, and opportunity across Indonesia.

We rarely stop to think about how much of our lives depend on our senses until one is taken away.

For millions of Indonesians, this is reality. Blindness robs not only sight, but also independence, livelihood, and dignity. Yet 80% of blindness is preventable or treatable.

Your donation today can restore vision, one of the most vital ways we connect with the world and with each other.

No contribution is too small. Donate: https://johnfawcett.org/donate-now/.
