Earlier this year, Rafiki wa Binti donated Binti Packs to 45 girls at Masoko Primary School.

Now, Head Teacher Teacher Njimbwe is already seeing the impact, fewer girls missing school during their periods, more confidence in the classroom, and a solution that is changing lives through dignity and education. 🩷

As we lead up to World Menstrual Hygiene Day for a , Rafiki Director Nancy Bondo was honoured to speak on BBC Swahili . Alongside leaders in the field, she spoke about the importance of menstrual health education and access for girls across East Africa.

The interview covered the impact that stigma, cost, and lack of access to menstrual products have on girls’ education, and why menstrual health products should be recognised as essential, not a luxury.

Proud of the work Nancy and the Rafiki wa Binti team are doing to keep girls in school, informed, and empowered.

In 2026, Rafiki wa Binti is setting an ambitious goal: providing 60,000 pairs of washable period underwear to 10,000 girls across Tanzania.

After successfully completing our first rollout of 4,000 Binti Packs (24,000 pairs of period underwear reaching 4,000 girls), we’ve seen the real impact, more confidence, dignity, and uninterrupted education for girls.

We’re proud to be an official partner of (May 28) by , a global movement dedicated to breaking stigma and promoting menstrual health awareness.

Binti Education

Meet Zawadi, the character developed by Rafiki wa Binti.

Zawadi features in the education book each girl receives in her Binti Pack, which includes information about puberty and periods, and how to care for the underwear.

Each pack is distributed by an education officer to ensure the girls are fitted correctly and have all the education and support they need.

The program is targeting students from grade five, all the way through high school, in targeted regions all through Tanzania.

A period shouldn't be the stopping point for a girl's education!
