This year marked the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week celebrations, and we proudly honoured this milestone on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja by creating space to connect with culture, community, and Country. The 2025 NAIDOC theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacyโ€, celebrates the power and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth. Itโ€™s a call to uplift young voices, share knowledge across generations, and recognise the strength and legacy that continues to guide future leaders.

As part of our celebrations, we were honoured to welcome Bel Cox from Djirrily Dreaming, who led us through a deeply grounding bush medicine workshop. Together, we explored traditional healing through native plants and created our own organic skincare, learning about culture, care and connection through hands-on experience.

We also joined forces with Midvale Parenting Hub for a special day out in Mundaring, where we continued to reflect, connect, and celebrate the meaning of NAIDOC Week in community. Weโ€™re grateful for every opportunity to walk alongside and learn from mob, not just during NAIDOC Week, but every day.

What a week at FairGround and YACtivate 2025 ๐ŸŽ‰

The headspace Midland, Geraldton, Albany teams and our YRG's had an incredible time connecting with other services, young leaders, and professionals across the youth sector. Our teams had the chance to share projects, research and ideas, including a youth engagement framework and a presentation from OPYC on their work supporting LGBTIQA+ young people ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

A huge thank you to YACWA, the YEP Project, and the Youth Pride Network for bringing these powerful events to life, and to Youth Focus and the City of Swan for supporting our attendance.

Itโ€™s Menโ€™s Health Week ๐Ÿ’š

Earlier this week, we had the chance to sit down with captain of the Fremantle Dockers, and Oscar, one of our amazing Youth Reference Group members, for a really honest chat about mental health.

They opened up about how they look after their wellbeing, what mental health means to them, and why itโ€™s so important to keep the conversation going, especially for young men.

Weโ€™re excited to share more from their conversation soon, so keep an eye out! Letโ€™s keep encouraging open, real and supportive chats about mental health.
