Standing Strong Clubs Our mission is to create greater support networks and provide valuable resources for families and young people.

Standing Strong provides counselling, youth coaching, psychology and wellbeing programs for children and teens, as well as a Youth Coach training course for people passionate about supporting and empowering young people. We take a proactive and preventative approach to mental and physical health and wellbeing and believe connection is the most important component to achieving positive long term outcomes. Services we provide include;

To the incredible families and participants, thank you for joining us on this journey this term. We are so grateful for your support, and to have you as part of our community.

We are so proud of the participants for their strength and positivity this term. Watching you grow, support one another, and embrace new challenges has been truly inspiring.

After a busy school term filled with NAPLAN, tests, sports events, and so much more, our kids may be feeling a mix of emotions. Some might feel proud, others relieved, and some might be a bit overwhelmed.
 
Now is the perfect time to slow down and check in with them. Create a safe space where they can share how they’re feeling. You don’t need to have all the answers—just listening can make all the difference. ✨
 
Let’s take time this week to be present with our children and show them we’re there. Whether it’s through a conversation, a quiet moment together, or just listening, let’s help them to feel supported, loved, and not alone. 💖

In a world that moves fast, mindfulness invites us to slow down—to be fully present and embrace each moment without judgment. ✨

Practicing mindfulness helps us to reduce stress, improve our focus, and connect deeply with ourselves and those around us.

Even if it’s just 10 minutes of mindful breathing together, or simply noticing the sights and sounds around us, let’s take time this week to be present with our children. 🌿

🌟The Power of Self-Compassion🌟

Last week, our focus was to help children understand the importance of self-compassion, and how they can practice it in everyday life.

Self-compassion is about being kind to yourself, and treating yourself with the same care and understanding you would to a dear friend. 💛

We are not our mistakes. We are not our worst days. We are human beings, constantly learning and growing. Practicing self-compassion allows us to give ourselves grace, embrace our imperfections, and learn from them.

Self-compassion also helps us to build resilience when things don’t go as planned. It gives us the confidence to try again, and helps us bounce back from challenges more easily. 💪

You can practice Self-Compassion by:

✨ Positive Self-Talk – Replace self-criticism with encouraging words. Speak to yourself with kindness.
✨ Self-Care & Mindfulness – Prioritise time for yourself. Engage in activities that bring relaxation and presence.
✨ Stand Up for Yourself – Celebrate your achievements and embrace what makes you uniquely you.
✨ Set Boundaries – Define how you want to be treated—and honor those boundaries.

Let’s help our children to embrace self-compassion. Let’s remind them that mistakes are part of learning, that no one is perfect, and that they are always worthy of love. 💖

We can’t believe we’re already into week 6 of our term at Standing Strong! 🎉

It’s been such a special term welcoming back members from last year, and helping new members settle in. It’s always so lovely to see how the re-enrolled members help the new participants to feel safe, supported, and included.

Some of the topics we’ve already covered this term include meeting new people, getting out of our comfort zone, building resilience, and building self-confidence. This week we will be exploring self-compassion and being your own best friend. 💖🤝

Term 1 Teen & Tween programs start tomorrow and we can’t wait to see everyone!🌟

The first topic will be focusing on is building the social skills and confidence to meet new people and make new friends.

Through our three core components of:

💪STRONG Body - Movement
🧠STRONG Mind - Mindset
💜STRONG Heart - Mindfulness

Participants with begin their 8 week term full of self exploration, motivation, connection, confidence building and fun.

🌟BIG NEWS!🌟 Children In Action Fitness is joining us at Standing Strong HQ!

We’re so happy to celebrate one of our incredible Instructors as he launches his new children’s fitness business. Abraham is an inspirational children’s personal trainer with a Bachelors Degree in Sports Science. Abraham has been a Sports Coach for over 8 years and has a passion for helping children to physically, mentally and emotionally be their best.

Through Children in Action Fitness, families will be able to access both 1-2-1 and group fitness programs for their children. These services can also be funded through NDIS.

Please help us to support and congratulate Abraham with his much needed new venture!

With term 1 just around the corner, we love to introduce you to a program we will be offering at SS HQ this term called - STONG Teens for Boys!

This program is for boys aged 11-13yrs and includes all three Standing Strong core components of STRONG Mind, STRONG Body & STRONG Heart (topics below).

If you’re looking for a place that will celebrate your child for all that they are, help them to feel empowered within themselves and provide them with a term of connection and uplifting activities, then Standing Strong is the place for you!

Our Story

Standing Strong™ is a social enterprise developed to support and enrich the lives or children and teens through proactive and preventative approaches to mental and physical health and wellbeing.

Hello, my name is Kim Henwood and I would like to share with you the story of Standing Strong®.

My goal when creating Standing Strong® was to provide a space were children and teens could go to explore the challenges they were facing without judgement, fear or comparison. I wanted to offer children and teens a place where they could share their thoughts and feelings, build positive relationships with peers and be inspired and empowered by motivational mentors and role models. Since 2013 Standing Strong® has provided over 3000 classes and programs to children aged five to seventeen years as well as providing an online support platform.

At its core, Standing Strong® provides evidence based programs designed to support and empower children to build confidence, self esteem, resilience and connection through holistic and preventative approaches to health and wellbeing. Our programs have been developed utilising three core components of Strong Body- Movement, Strong Mind- Mindset and Strong Heart- Mindfulness. In 2013 Standing Strong® launched with a single program for girls aged twelve to seventeen years, over the past six years it has now grown to offer nine signature programs for both boys and girls aged five to seventeen years.
