Everybody knows a little bit about gluten sensitivity and how it can damage your inner gut lining - called leaky gut syndrome. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/326117
When the gut barrier is compromised toxins, bacteria etc may trigger an immune response to fight the invaders. However, sometimes your own tissues may get caught in the cross fire. This auto immune response may lead to specific symptoms according to what organ system is affected.
If your cerebellum is under attack you may experience trouble with your fine motor skills, balance, gait and speech. If you go and see a GP who is trained according to the conventional disease management approach - you may end up with a wrong diagnosis and symptomatic treatment like enzymes for digestion. The treatment may keep you going but you likely will never be healthy and well for the rest of your life. Why? Because symptomatic treatments do not work! They don’t address the root cause of the problem. It s like that: You take a hammer and hit your thumb. It hurts like hell and it starts bleeding. You dress the wound with a bandaid to facilitate the healing process. Next day, you take the hammer and hit your thumb again. It hurts and starts bleeding. You apply a bandaid …. Next day you repeat …. and repeat. Guess what? The thumb is never going to heal. Well, this is how the disease management system operates. It is your responsibility to be healthy 🌱
On the other hand a functional approach that includes a careful lifestyle analysis may provide some valuable clues about the aetiology of the symptoms and an elimination diet may show quick
and astonishing improvements in health and all over well-being.
How do I know all this? Because it happened to me and I suffered on and off for several decades from exposure to gluten. All tests for gluten sensitivity were negative and so I struggled most of my career in a gluten infested hospital working environment. It is socially isolating not to
consume gluten and you can get even harassed by your own doctor colleagues and nurses for making health conscious decisions. What a joke!
Over the years the symptoms became more severe and finally I experienced balance problems, speech issues, skin changes, ankle oedema and problems with my fine motor skills. But you know what? Nobody is going to help you unless you help yourself.
Lucky, I had a sudden flash of insight and googled ataxia in combination with gluten. Google came
up with a solution: Gluten induced cerebellar ataxia.

An elimination diet followed ASAP and the symptoms
are disappearing rapidly. Once
the root cause is eliminated the body is able to heal quickly, restore wellbeing and physical fitness. You are meant to be healthy 🌱
Gluten ataxia involves progressive balance problems caused by a reaction to the protein gluten. Here is what you need to know.
