๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽ“ Happy Graduation to Archie and Maverick! ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿพ

* Archie came to see us 3.5 weeks post spinal surgery, he was already able to walk but needed to work on coordination and strengthening

* Maverick was referred following a delayed healing metatarsal fracture and ongoing hindlimb soreness. Assessment identified compensatory muscle tension, spinal discomfort and joint stiffness contributing to his lameness. Maverick is also a sporting dog! so it was important to get him back to doing what he loves.

Through a combination of laser therapy, massage and an individually tailored home exercise program they have managed to get back to all of their normal activities, with above average strength, and no pain or muscle tension.

Well done to Archie, Maverick and their families for all their hard work ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ฃ Weโ€™re excited to announce we are moving to our new home next week! ๐Ÿ“ฃ

Our rehab family has grown, and itโ€™s time for a bigger, purpose-built space in a more central location to better support our patients and their humans. Same great care, just more room to heal, recover, and thrive.

Stay tuned for more sneak peeks as we move in this long weekend! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

โญ๏ธ Gold star patient of the week - Tosca the cat ๐Ÿˆ

Yes, cats can absolutely do rehab too!

Tosca aced his assessment (with plenty of treats of course) while we investigated his hind limb weakness. We found some osteoarthritis, mild spinal discomfort and muscle tightness contributing to his strength imbalance - but the good news is we now have a targeted plan to help him build strength and stay active

๐ŸŒŸ March has seen a whopping 8 patients graduate their rehab programs!
These dogs (and their families) have been working very hard to improve their comfort and mobility.

๐Ÿพ Akira - came to see us following an acute onset tetraparesis (unable to walk all 4 legs)

๐Ÿพ Wilfred was referred by his behaviour vet for a pain assessment as he had a history of hyperactivity, excessive panting and reluctance to use his dog door and jump in/out of the car. He was found to have lumbosacral pain, hamstrings tension, elbow & hip pain.

๐Ÿพ Chewie had a history of skipping and his knees locking. He was found to have bilateral patella luxation, spinal pain, hip arthritis, and secondary muscle tension

๐Ÿพ Alfie had a history of intermittent neck spasms sometimes lasting up to 24 hours of discomfort and tension. On exam was found found to have neck and lumbar spinal pain as well as arthritis of his hips and shoulders.

๐Ÿพ Kuiper had a history of hindlimb weakness and muscle atrophy following a grade 2 IVDD diagnosis. She had spinal pain, lumbar kyphosis and reduced hip extension

๐Ÿพ Lynk came to see us for left hind limb lameness and reluctance to jump with no identifiable joint or bone issues. On exam he was found to have left hamstrings muscle strain, thoracic spinal pain, right hip arthritis and secondary muscle pain and tension.

๐Ÿพ Bruce came for post TPLO rehab but also had a history of forelimb trembling when sitting or standing. He had arthritis of all joints causing reduced range of motion as well as carpal collateral ligament pain.

๐Ÿพ April had a history of right hind limb lameness where she was intermittently non weight bearing. Despite having radiographs, no diagnosis had been made. She was found to have arthritis of her hips, hocks and carpi as well as mild spinal pain and secondary muscle tension.

A varied bunch of patients but through a thorough full body exam, a combination of laser therapy, massage and an individually tailored home exercise program they are all back to their normal function and activities!

Well done to everyone for their hard work ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

๐ŸŒŸ What a way to start the new year! ๐ŸŒŸ
Winnie came to us with acute progressive tetraparesis (inability to use all 4 legs) with an MRI scan revealing a bleed had occurred in her brain.

She presented to us:
* Unable to sit up from laying on her side
* Head flexed to the right when supported upright
* If supported in a stand she could weight bear on her right legs but knuckle the left
* Unable to walk but had slight movement on the right side while dragging the left

An individualised therapeutic exercise plan was developed to keep her joints and muscles moving while also helping her relearn functional transitions.

Her amazing dedicated family pulled together taking around the clock shifts to provide her with intensive care from home while also visiting us twice a week.

We were all shocked and impressed to see her WALK into the clinic this week! An amazing way to start off the new year.

Well done to Winnie and her family for putting in a mammoth effort.

No doubt youโ€™ve seen Dr Yokoโ€™s passion for veterinary rehabilitation in action ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ 2025 was a big year โ€” from completing her Certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture to creating and delivering a weekend workshop on Practical Canine Rehabilitation at VetPrac in Brisbane in November!

We finally got our hands on some photos from the event, and by all accounts it was a huge success! ๐Ÿ™Œ Spending a weekend with such enthusiastic vets, eager to learn how to apply rehab principles in their own practices, was incredibly rewarding and truly heart-warming.
