🌟 What a way to start the new year! 🌟
Winnie came to us with acute progressive tetraparesis (inability to use all 4 legs) with an MRI scan revealing a bleed had occurred in her brain.

She presented to us:
* Unable to sit up from laying on her side
* Head flexed to the right when supported upright
* If supported in a stand she could weight bear on her right legs but knuckle the left
* Unable to walk but had slight movement on the right side while dragging the left

An individualised therapeutic exercise plan was developed to keep her joints and muscles moving while also helping her relearn functional transitions.

Her amazing dedicated family pulled together taking around the clock shifts to provide her with intensive care from home while also visiting us twice a week.

We were all shocked and impressed to see her WALK into the clinic this week! An amazing way to start off the new year.

Well done to Winnie and her family for putting in a mammoth effort.

No doubt you’ve seen Dr Yoko’s passion for veterinary rehabilitation in action 💪🐾 2025 was a big year — from completing her Certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture to creating and delivering a weekend workshop on Practical Canine Rehabilitation at VetPrac in Brisbane in November!

We finally got our hands on some photos from the event, and by all accounts it was a huge success! 🙌 Spending a weekend with such enthusiastic vets, eager to learn how to apply rehab principles in their own practices, was incredibly rewarding and truly heart-warming.

🐾🎓 Happy Graduation to Heidi! 🎓🐾

Heidi came to see us with a 2.5 week history of hindlimb weakness. She was knuckling and crossing over her legs when walking and had no placing reflex.
She was diagnosed with suspected IVDD.

Through a combination of laser therapy, massage and an individually tailored home exercise program she has managed to get back to a normal function! This only took 6 clinic visits over a 3 month period.

Well done to Heidi and her mum for all their hard work 🐾❤️

Thank you for all your support and hard work this year! ❤️🐾

🐾🎓 Happy Graduation to Betty! 🎓🐾

Betty came to see us after a 2 week history of being unable to walk. She was diagnosed with grade 5 hindlimb paralysis, the most severe grade with no movement or feeling from suspected IVDD.

❗️These patients are commonly believed to never be able to walk again. ❗️

Amazingly after 5 weeks of both in clinic therapy and home exercises we started to see movement in her hind limbs and she’s been going from strength to strength even since!

Well done to Betty and her family for their hard work and never giving up

“We’ve learnt so much from this process, the most important being sometimes not being able to walk doesn’t mean life isn’t worth living.” A quote from Angus’ dedicated mum this week.

He hasn’t regained the use of his hind legs following a grade 5 spinal injury after both surgery and rehab. HOWEVER, is he stronger, fitter and living life at full speed again — chasing balls, playing with his family, and proving that joy doesn’t need four working legs.

Thank you to his wonderful family for their patience, dedication, and understanding

Work out with Leo 💪🏻 🐾 This little man is recovering from his second spinal surgery! Thankfully he regained the ability to walk but is still a bit wobbly so we’re working on his muscle strength, balance and sensory feedback to give him the best chance of recovering back to a normal healthy life.

Can you spot the difference?
Sizzle initially presented to us for hind limb weakness. His initial gait showed a hip hike on the right, bunny hopping gait, reduced shoulder extension and tail only moving to the right. Even on pain relief he was found to be painful in his shoulders and along his spine as well as moderate epaxial muscle atrophy.

At graduation he was off all medication, no longer had muscle atrophy, has a longer smoother stride length and higher tail carriage which also moves to both sides evenly.

Through a combination of laser therapy, massage and an individually tailored home exercise program he has managed to get back to a normal pain free life!

Well done Sizzle, here’s to many happy, healthy adventures ahead

🐾🎓 Happy Graduation to Walter! 🎓🐾

Walter came to us at just 1 year old as his owners noticed he struggled to settle, constantly chewing or licking and just generally seemed “off”

On exam he was found to have multiple sites of spinal pain including ribs and also muscle tension. Through a combination of laser therapy, massage and therapeutic exercise he has managed to get back to a normal pain free life and without medication!

Well done Walter, here’s to many happy, healthy adventures ahead with your family ❤️🐾
