The first of its kind in Australia. A state-of-the-art, custom-built hydrotherapy machine designed to be fully mobile, and it’s coming to Hydro Hounds later this year.

This has been a dream of mine for a while, something I’ve been quietly working on behind the scenes(hence the reason behind my business name)… and I’m beyond excited to finally be able to share it.

Soon, the dogs of Perth will have access to mobile hydrotherapy, right at their doorstep. 🐾

If you’d like to register your interest or find out a little more, please send me a DM. Lots more info will be shared soon, and I’ll keep you all updated every step of the way.

🐾This is one of my newest patient, Boots – a sweet King Charles Cavalier cross who recently underwent TPLO surgery for cruciate ligament damage. His owner reached out to me with some concerns, as up to 50% of cases the opposite knee can also be affected after this kind of injury.

To give Boots the very best chance at recovery, I’ve created a completely personalised plan just for him. Today was his first session, and we’ve started by addressing compensatory soreness – the kind of tension that builds when a dog shifts more of their weight to one side to protect an injured limb.

In Boots’ case, his thighs and lumbar epaxials (the big supportive muscles along the lower back) are an area of focus, as they often take on extra strain following cruciate surgery.

I also applied a stabilisation taping over his stifle (knee joint) to give him some extra support between sessions. This helps to encourage more balanced movement while reducing the risk of overloading his other limb.

But treatment isn’t just about helping the operated leg recover – it’s also about prevention. By keeping the rest of his body balanced and mobile, and by releasing areas that might be pulling unevenly, I’ll be working to reduce the risk of his other knee developing the same issue. The goal is to keep his movement as natural and comfortable as possible while protecting him for the long term.

It’s always a privilege to be part of a dog’s rehab journey, and I’m so looking forward to working with Boots as he continues to heal and thrive. šŸ–¤šŸ¾

🌟Gentle iliopsoas stretches help lengthen this deep hip flexor, which often pulls on the lumbar spine when tight - a very common occurrence in Daschunds.

By releasing it, I’m easing pressure through the lower back, encouraging better spinal alignment and mobility, and giving Lesley more comfort in both his back and hind limbs.

It’s always a muscle group that I focus on with this breed and any patient that requires a little help with back pain šŸ¾šŸ–¤

✨Golden hour massage for this golden oldie ✨

Charlie — a sweet senior Labrador I see fortnightly to help manage his arthritis symptoms and keep him moving comfortably.

Today’s session included red light therapy to boost the benefits of his treatment. I targeted:
šŸ–¤His hips – a common hotspot for arthritis in the breed.
šŸ–¤His lumbosacral region – often sore due to age-related degeneration and compensatory strain.
šŸ–¤And an arthritic digit on his front paw that needs a little extra TLC.

The combination of remedial massage + red light therapy is a powerful, gentle way to support Charlie’s ageing body — keeping him relaxed, mobile, and feeling good. 🐶🐾

Rupert the Retired Senior Greyhound šŸ–¤

Rupert has been working with me to manage the effects of spondylosis and arthritis — two common but challenging conditions for senior dogs, especially larger breeds. Spondylosis is a degenerative condition of the vertebral bones, where bony growths form along the spine. This can lead to stiffness, discomfort, and changes in the way a dog moves.

🐾 A few months on and his shuffling hind limbs have become a thing of the past. He’s now getting up and down off the floor with much more ease, and to his owner’s delight, his appetite has improved too — a wonderful sign that he’s feeling better in his body.

I’ve also started incorporating red light therapy into Rupert’s sessions. This has proven to be a real powerhouse when combined with remedial massage. Red light therapy works deep within the tissues to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and support cellular repair. When used alongside hands-on bodywork, it enhances the overall effects — helping to ease pain, loosen tight fascia, and support long-term mobility.

Rupert has now reached the point where we’re moving into maintenance care — a huge milestone in his journey. I’m so proud of how far he’s come. Well done, gorgeous boy šŸ–¤

✨Complimentary session for July✨

I’ve upgraded my red light therapy system — and I’m SO excited to be offering even more powerful, targeted results for my canine clients 🐾

Red light therapy is now available as an add-on to any treatment.
Because I’m excited to share the healing benefits of this therapy, I’m offering a complimentary session of Red Light (if suitable!) for your dog for their next treatment session with me in the month of July.

This gives you a chance to see the benefits for yourself.

If you’re keen to try it, just message me to have the complimentary session added to your dog’s next treatment šŸ’Œ

🐾Why red light therapy?

My mat is medical-grade, and the therapy is backed by science. When added on, your dog gets unlimited use for the entire session.

🐾Here’s what it can help with:

šŸ–¤IVDD – Encourages disc healing, improves nerve function, and supports spinal stability
šŸ–¤Arthritis pain – Reduces joint inflammation and increases mobility (especially now its colder)
šŸ–¤Seniors – Boosts circulation and energy in tired bodies
šŸ–¤Post-op – Speeds healing, reduces scar tissue formation, and helps prevent muscle atrophy
šŸ–¤Anxious dogs – Calms the nervous system and promotes deeper relaxation during massage
šŸ–¤Muscle strain or injury – Accelerates recovery at a cellular level
šŸ–¤Stimulates - helping dogs with neurological conditions (like wobbly back legs or ataxia)
šŸ–¤Muscle Fatigue - perfect for dogs who overdo it at the park
šŸ–¤lymphatic drainage — to reduce swelling and support detoxification
šŸ–¤calming effects — making my treatments even more effective

It’s gentle, non-invasive, and incredibly effective.

I’m so incredibly lucky and thrilled to finally bring this additional service. Keep an eye on my socials and website — I’ll be sharing more about the science, the results, and how it all works ✨

Here’s Ralph, doing his best ā€œcosy potatoā€ impression during this wet weather. Luckily he’s not afraid of storms—he just loves a good snuggle šŸ„”šŸ–¤

But for dogs who are nervous during thunderstorms, here are some calming tips to help them feel more secure:

šŸ›ļø Create a den – Let them hide where they feel safe. Add blankets, familiar smells, and soft lighting.

šŸŽµ Sound masking – Play gentle music, white noise, or even the TV to help block out noise.

🌿 Calming scents – Try dog-safe essential oil sprays (like lavender or chamomile), or plug-in diffusers made specifically for pets.

šŸ’†ā€ā™€ļø Bodywork magic – Gentle massage or even just steady, calm touch can activate their parasympathetic nervous system (aka their ā€œrest and digestā€ mode).

🐶 Don’t fuss too much – It’s okay to comfort them, but try to stay calm and low-key yourself. Your energy helps set the tone.

And for the dogs who aren’t scared, like Ralph? Let them get snuggly and enjoy the excuse for a slow day. šŸ’¤šŸ’•

Happy 9th birthday to my beautiful boy, Ralphy šŸ¾šŸ’›

You’re the reason I found my purpose and my passion.

You’ve carried me through some of the toughest moments of my life without even knowing it, held space for me, and loved me unconditionally.

You’ve got a few extra grey whiskers around that little face now, but you’re still my baby.

My heart dog. 11/10 good boy—always.

I just hope you know how deeply, wildly loved you are. Forever. šŸ’«šŸ¶šŸŽ‚

✨It’s here… the Hydro Hounds Calming Balm has officially launched!

This isn’t just another balm in a tin. I’ve poured months of research, testing, and care into creating something truly safe, effective, and nourishing for our dogs.

I spent hours researching every single ingredient – diving into veterinary journals, natural remedies, and dermatological studies – to ensure each component was not only natural and non-toxic, but genuinely therapeutic. I even consulted vets and veterinary dermatologists along the way, seeking their guidance and approval.

The result? A gentle, protective balm made with beeswax, coconut oil, propolis, manuka honey and chamomile essential oil – designed to calm irritated skin, support healing, and nourish dry noses and paws. It’s completely safe for dogs and babies, and free from synthetic preservatives, nasties or fillers.

Proudly handmade in Perth with the same love and care I give my own boy, Ralphy.

✨How to support them in their golden years
Our senior dogs deserve all the love and care as they navigate the changes that come with ageing. Small adjustments can make a big difference—raise their food and water bowls to ease strain, upgrade their beds for joint support, and keep them gently moving to maintain mobility. Keep their minds sharp with enrichment activities, adapt your cues if their hearing fades, and consider supplements like omega-3s or glucosamine for overall wellbeing. Warm compresses can also bring comfort to stiff joints, especially in cooler months.

šŸ–¤Senior dogs are a speciality and a big love of mine—if you’d like a tailored treatment or more personalised tips to support your golden oldie, feel free to reach out anytime.
