šŸ‘ Big congratulations to Matt!
Matt is on the journey toward refereeing international touch football (rugby) matches, and he recently reached a huge milestone — achieving National Referee status at the National Championships in Coffs Harbour. šŸ‰
Even better, he was proudly repping his Parkinson’s WA socks, which matched the pink referee shirt perfectly! šŸ§¦šŸ’—

✨ Newly Diagnosed Seminar with Dr Rick Stell✨
On Saturday, 21 March, we welcomed attendees to The Niche for our Newly Diagnosed Seminar, designed to support those recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
Neurologist Dr Rick Stell shared valuable insights into understanding Parkinson’s and answered thoughtful questions from the audience. Following the session, our Parkinson’s Nurse Specialists and Dr David Blacker hosted an open Q&A, giving attendees the chance to ask questions and connect over a light morning tea.
A big thank you to everyone who attended, including those who joined online for the live stream, and helped make this event a success! šŸ’™

Today marks a significant milestone for Australia’s Parkinson’s community.
Pictured: Yasmin Naglazas, CEO, and Gary Steinepreis, Board Chair, Parkinson’s WA.
The National Parkinson’s Action Plan was officially launched in Federal Parliament on 24 March 2026, Australia’s first coordinated national response to Parkinson’s. Developed by the National Parkinson’s Alliance and supported by the Australian Government, the plan aims to improve care, support and research, addressing long-standing gaps for the more than 200,000 Australians living with the condition.
As a proud Alliance member, Parkinson’s WA welcomes this important step toward more equitable, coordinated care nationwide.

Bill from our Bunbury Support Group was proudly showing off his reflex ball this past meeting— a simple but powerful tool he uses to work on hand-eye coordination, multitasking and reflexes.
Activities like this can help keep both the mind and body engaged, and it’s always great to see members sharing what works for them. Thanks for the demo, Bill! šŸŽ¾

A wonderful morning at the Parkinson’s Carers North Catch Up šŸ’™
We were so grateful to have special guests David and Kristen Blacker join us, sharing their knowledge and taking the time to answer everyone’s questions in such an open and supportive way. It was fantastic to see carers connecting, learning, and feeling heard, all while enjoying a relaxed morning tea together.
Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a meaningful and uplifting catch-up ā˜•āœØ
