🧠 Today is World Brain Day, the theme this year is Brain Health for All Ages.

Let today be a powerful reminder of the incredible role our brains play in every part of our lives, and the urgent need to prioritise neurological health.

Neurological disorders impact 1 in 3 people globally, and Parkinson’s is now the fastest-growing neurological condition in the world. Awareness, education, and support have never been more important.

At Parkinson’s Western Australia, we’re dedicated to helping people live well with Parkinson’s, no one should face this journey alone — and we’re here to make sure they don’t.

Let’s keep the conversation going. šŸ’¬
Let’s raise awareness. šŸ™Œ
Let’s fight Parkinson’s. šŸ’Ŗ

🧶 Patricia’s Creative Way of Giving Back šŸ’™

Diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2022, Patricia found strength and support through Parkinson’s WA, and now she’s giving back in the most heartwarming way. From raffled crochet rugs to her now-famous $5 cheeky chickens, Patricia has turned her love for crochet into a meaningful fundraiser. 🐄

So far, she’s raised over $560 and sold 73 chickens, spreading joy, awareness, and hope along the way.

🧠 It’s not too late to have your say! Help shape the future of Parkinson’s support in Australia.

Parkinson’s Western Australia, in collaboration with the National Parkinson’s Alliance, is still welcoming responses to the nationwide Community Consultation Survey for the National Parkinson’s Action Plan (NPAP) — a landmark federally funded initiative.

If you’re living with Parkinson’s (including Atypical Parkinson’s), or you’re a family member or unpaid carer, your insights are vital.

šŸ“ The survey is confidential and anonymous, and will directly inform how policy, care, and support services evolve to better meet the needs of our community.

On September 1st, 2025 , his late wife Tricia’s birthday, Bill will set off from Kalamunda to Albany along the Bibbulmun Track. He’s walking in honour of Tricia, who passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s, and to raise vital funds and awareness for Parkinson’s WA.

šŸ’¬ ā€œShe loved to walk,ā€ Bill says. ā€œSo I’ll walk for her.ā€

Bill is donating $1 for every kilometre, and inviting others to support him however they can. Whether it’s 10 cents or $1 per km, every step counts.

šŸ‘‰ Read Bill’s story and donate today to help honour Tricia’s memory and support people living with Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s Western Australia, as part of the National Parkinson’s Alliance, invites you to take part in a nationwide Community Consultation Survey to help shape the National Parkinson’s Action Plan (NPAP) — a major federally funded initiative.

If you’re living with Parkinson’s (including Atypical Parkinson’s), or if you're a family member or unpaid carer, your voice matters.

šŸ“ This confidential and anonymous survey will help identify the real challenges faced by our community — and guide improvements in policy, care, and support services across the country.
