Tennis Elbow Got You Down? Let's Fix That! 🎾

Tennis Elbow or Lateral Epicondylitis is a common injury, and is due to the overload of extensor muscle ECRB (Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis). It often occurs in repetitive activities such as computer use, heavy lifting, forced forearm pronation/supination and repetitive vibration.

It presents with:
• Lateral elbow pain
• Pain and weakness on resisted wrist extension
• Weakness in gripping objects
• Pain or decreased movement in the elbow

🌟 Start Your Recovery with These Two Exercises: 🌟

Resisted Wrist Extension
• 10-12 reps (fast up, slow down to a count of 5)
• 3-4 sets twice a day
• 4-5 x per week
• Tip: Pick a TheraBand which is moderate resistance (usually blue or green)

Pronation/Supination (with a stick)
• 10-12 reps
• 3-4 sets twice a day
• 4-5 x per week
• Tip: Use a wooden stick or light (2kg) dumbbell

Meet Hannah! 👋🏼

Kirill's wife, and the one who has been there driving the project from the beginning. 🔥

Hannah has been training jiu-jitsu for around 8 years, and while she doesn't compete these days, she still makes time for the sport she loves, both for the physical benefits and the way it reduces stress and improves headspace.

In her spare time, she likes to save lives in her work as an Emergency Physician, having spent some time with the Royal Flying Doctors, and now working at several ED's around Perth. 🩺

Hannah and Kirill's views on what chiropractic care should be align, which is what makes this partnership so perfect.

That said, Kirill tries not to argue with her at home because, let's face it, headlocks are hard to get out of!

Golfer’s Elbow refers to the overload of flexor muscles in the forearm, which attaches to the medial epicondyle of the humerus (the inside of your elbow). Even though it’s called Golfer’s Elbow, you don’t have to be a golfer to get this injury. In fact, we mainly see it in electricians and similar labourers due to the repetitive movement of forearm pronation/supination with wrist flexion 🪛

How to spot Golfer’s Elbow:
⛳️ Pain at the medial elbow/inside the forearm (can refer down to wrist and fingers)
⛳️ Stiffness of the elbow
⛳️ Weakness in the hand and wrist, with numbness and/or tingling in the ring and little finger

Non-Invasive Treatment:
🩺 First, stop the activity/movement that is causing the issue
🩺 RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation)
🩺 NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory)
🩺 Rehabilitation exercises provided by a healthcare professional
