What to Do When You Feel Overwhelmed at Work

Why Awareness Heals

An Ayurvedic Lens on Mindfulness and Health
Mindfulness Isn't Working? Your Vata Might Be Exhausted

Many people practise mindfulness, meditate regularly, and make thoughtful lifestyle choices yet still feel unsettled in their bodies.

Sleep is light or broken.
Digestion feels unpredictable.
Energy rises and falls.
The mind stays busy even when life is relatively calm.

In this video, I share an Ayurvedic perspective on why this happens and why mindfulness alone does not always translate into calm, stable health.

From an Ayurvedic lens, mindfulness is not defined by what you do for ten or twenty minutes a day. It is defined by the state your system is living in most of the time. Health is shaped continuously, not occasionally.

Modern conversations often frame mindfulness as a mental skill: observing thoughts, noticing emotions, staying present. Ayurveda values this, but goes further. It teaches that awareness must include the body, digestion, sleep, breathing patterns, energy cycles, and daily rhythm.

When these rhythms are disrupted, the nervous system stays alert. A body that remains alert cannot prioritise repair. This is not a failure of discipline or intention. It is a physiological response.

Ayurveda explains this through the principle of Vata, which represents movement and change in the body and mind. When Vata is balanced, there is clarity, adaptability, and ease. When Vata becomes excessive, the system loses steadiness. This often shows up as restlessness, light sleep, irregular digestion, fluctuating energy, and a sense of being internally unsettled, even in people who are otherwise functioning well.

In this video, I explore:
• why awareness itself is therapeutic
• how observation stabilises the nervous system
• why rhythm matters more than willpower
• how mindfulness needs embodiment to last
• and a simple Ayurvedic question that helps settle the system gently
This is not about fixing yourself or doing more. It is about restoring stability in a system that has been living in constant motion.

Mindfulness through Ayurveda is not about refining awareness as a mental skill. It is about restoring communication between your body and your daily choices. When awareness brings rhythm, Vata settles. And when Vata settles, health begins to feel less effortful and more natural.

If this perspective resonates, let it sit with you. Notice where life could become slightly slower, warmer, or more predictable. That is often where healing quietly begins.

Modern neuroscience confirms ancient wisdom: when your nervous system is chronically activated (Doing Mode), your creativity and patience decline. When you incorporate stillness, you activate the parasympathetic system (Being Mode).

In this state of internal safety, your mind functions coherently. Focus replaces fragmentation, and energy is directed, not scattered. Speed is impressive. Direction is intelligent. Stillness provides direction. Learn how to stabilise your success by regulating your nervous system.
