My beautiful followers / sounds / birth workers / friends / mama clients and birthing goddesses!

It’s been a while since I have posted and I wanted to tell you all.

My birth worker bags are being hung up. This incredible bundle of@love and work has been sold! 💔💔🥹🥹🥰🥰 (all of the feels)

I have been honoured, inspired, angered and absolutely shocked and in awe of women, birth, the system and the support.

It’s been an amazing learning curve, and humbling experience.

But after our brief travelling / off grid lifestyle - we have decided we will be shaking things up a little and moving to karratha.

It’s a whole new plethora of adventures and learnings for our whole family.

I will be back at work full time, kids will be at school 😱😱😱 we will still be living in our beloved caravan Heidi and life will be new and exciting.

For all those who have followed along to learn about birth, to those who just liked a laugh and some reality - to those who invited me into their amazing lives!

I SEE YOU!!!!

I won’t be birthy active in my own Insta, but I will still be sharing life and truths in my personal life if anyone wants to stay in contact xoxoxo

|| Auf Wiedersehen / Adios / See ya later ||

June 2022

The last amazing birth / mama I supported to bring her beautiful baby earthside happened a few spectacular evenings ago.

I had the pleasure of supporting a short 17 months ago in her first incredible homebirth, and then on the 9th of June for the freebirth of her second daughter.

So when I had a phone call from Lauren, 9 months ago asking whether we would still be in Perth in June - I made SURE that we would stay an extra month before we packed up the van and left on our big trip around oZ.

This mama worked hard!

💪🏼 3 days of prodromal labour

💪🏼 Navigating the space of being mama and trying to go within to bring new life. Sometimes, as much as we want our older children present, their presence can also slow down / stall labour.

💪🏼 Having to work hard, utilise gravity, movement, space to allow baby to find her way down.

💪🏼 Facing the crisis of confidence, getting through it - and facing it again. It’s moments like these that SUPPORT and ENCOURAGEMENT is needed.

This mama - freebirthed her babe surrounded by support, love and trust.

birthed Rose into the warmth of the water and the loving arms of her husband Pat.

I am honoured to have witnessed this birth, honoured to have been part of both their birth journeys and what a birth to say my auf wiedersehen/ see ya later / adios to Perth to.

As we get ready to leave Perth in our caravan - I want to let you know - this is not the end of my birth work days - there is 100% more to come.

I AM BACK

|| Mothering - Family - Friend - Foe ||

The closer I come to living our life as a travelling adventuring family!

The more I realise how much of an incredible network of support I have, I have created and I am already realising I won’t “lose” that.

🙋🏻‍♀️ Will it be different???
👏🏽 Oh f**k yeah it will!

🙋🏻‍♀️ Will I struggle?
👏🏽 Undoubtedly I will struggle!

🙋🏻‍♀️ Will there be moments of regret and tears form myself and the kids?
👏🏽 Already been there and done that - I’m sure there is more to come.

🙋🏻‍♀️ Will I/we make it work?
👏🏽 There is no doubt in my mind - I/we will make it work.

Want to know why???????

✅ I am resilient
✅ I have YOU - the online support we can create is a huge portal of love, support and compassion.
✅ I thrive when outdoors in nature
✅ I have learnt to ask for help without judging myself or my ability
✅ I WILL take help when it is offered, if I need it.
✅ I am supported by my partner in crime and my kids.

This new journey for us is going to be huge.

I will liken it to the journey from maiden to mother - the unknown, the fear, the flow.

I can’t wait to adapt into this variation of life / support / mothering / friendship!

This will 100% flow into the way I support women / families during their journeys - it will be epic on the next level - and I can’t wait to share more.

|| CHANGING BODY ||

Pregnancy and Birth change us in more ways than I can describe.

The physical change in our bodies are insanely incredible, awe inspiring and just mind blowing.

BUT some of those changes can be very challenging for us, both physically and emotionally.

It’s OK for you not to enjoy every moment of pregnancy!

It’s OK for you not to LOVE all the changes that are happening to you.

Here are a few tips to incorporate into your daily routine.

💕 Look in the mirror and thank your body and yourself for the amazing job you are doing
💕 Write down 3 body parts you truely love
💕 Put some music on and move to the music.

💗 YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL
💗 YOUR ARE ENOUGH
💗 YOU ARE OUTSTANDING

|| Postpartum ||

Hey guys - it’s been a minute!

Things have been crazy over here ( no I didn’t just have a baby) BUT I’ve moved house, sold our home - living at my folks, waiting for our van to be ready and all things crazy.

So here is a HELLO and a “how cute is this frikken baby” post!

But most importantly a reminder that your 4th trimester is JUST as important (if not more important) as your birth journey.

Really consider either hiring a postpartum Doula or being firm / confident enough to tell your friends and family what YOU need when baby is here.

Postpartum for Carissa Ellis today looked like this. Thank you for allowing me to share a snippet of your journey

✅ A SOLO shower and washed hair
✅ A healing soup brought for either today or another day (freezer friendly)
✅ Older kids chatted to, entertained and lured away from the shower as much as possible
✅ Little bub cradled once awoken from bassinet so mama could continue her shower in peace
✅ Tea ready and Nepali Rice pudding cooked and served post shower
✅ washing hung and dishes washed

THIS is how a birthing queen should be treated.

NURTURE mama and encourage her healing.

Every postpartum visit looks different- sometimes it just looks like a big ol shoulder to cry on - or it could just be a massage - OR it could be take the kids to the park so MAMA can rest with bub.

WHAT WIULD YOU WANT FROM A POSTPARTUM FAIRY VISIT?

Happy International Woman’s Day my fellow warrior!

This is me 39 weeks with Malakai whilst firmly coming to grips with the enclosing truth of tackling 2 babies under 2.

Yep - we got through 2 under 2 whilst tackling a fifo roster as best we could.

The funny thing is - 6 months into our journey - we agreed that 2 for us was enough (Aidan has an older son in Ireland too - so 3 for him) and hubby had a vasectomy.

I sit here mourning that my bleed has come - because I was holding onto a miraculous conception hope for some reason this cycle.

Our bodies are crazy - damn hormones literally making me want more babies each cycle - and then the point where I am “what was I thinking!!!” will be just around the corner.

Grateful for my beautiful pregnancies, births and children - but also slightly sad because I WANT MORE!!!!! Gimme all the babies!

|| HBAC - Homebirth After Cesarean ||

If you have been told you can only birth via cesarean because you’ve previously had a cesarean - you were lied to.

If you have been told you can only ever birth in the hospital because you have had a previous cesarean - you were lied to.

If you were told that the cord being wrapped around babies necks is dangerous - you weren’t given the whole truth.

If you were told “we have to break your waters” you were probably not given ALL the information to make an informed choice.

Be informed about your body, pregnancy and birth.

Ask the ALL the questions - get second opinions and don’t just blindly follow what your provider says.

Informed consent / knowledge is power.
