Hi Members and Community,

Over the past few days, we’ve treated three stingray-related injuries. To help keep everyone safe, please keep the following in mind:

- Shuffle your feet when walking through murky water, seaweed, or areas where you can’t see the bottom. This movement alerts stingrays and cobblers so they can swim away before you step on them.

If stung by a stingray:
- If barbs remain in your foot and can be safely removed, do so and control any bleeding.

- If you cannot remove the barbs, seek medical attention immediately — surgical removal may be required.

- Pain relief: Immerse the affected area in the hottest water you can comfortably tolerate (always test first with your unaffected foot).

If the pain becomes unmanageable, or if bleeding cannot be controlled, call 000 straight away.
