🏃To move well is vital to our quality of life, yet humans are getting worse and worse and being able to perform simple movements in their day to day lives without pain or stiffness.🤸‍♀️

👎It seems we are now reverse evolving, with the introduction of all our office jobs, technology, mobile phone use and more.
👎Pain is on the increase and so is depression.
👎 We are taking for granted movement the human body is capable of.

This is more than just "one day you'll lose it when you're old so you should move now", we can be far more proactive about the damage society is having on our body, and choose to age more youthfully.

💭 I have always found it fascinating, how my 70-100 year olds, despite age working against them, often moved and responded better to exercise programs, than my 50-60year old patients.
❓Why? Because the elderly demonstrated increased discipline, and truly appreciated the importance of movement in order to keep doing the things in life they valued.

❌So dont let age be your excuse, we all have a choice. My elderly patients from the past all chose to keep moving, so they can keep doing the things in life they love.

What will you choose?🤔

Being able to move well is a privilege you need to work for!

Sadly, if you do not take a proactive approach to looking after how well your body moves, then you will naturally seize up, stiffen up, develop pain and get injuries. Over time, your body will slowly move worse and feel worse. So simple day to day tasks will become effortful, and you will no longer be able to do the fun things in life you enjoy such as hiking, doing sports, or having the energy to run around and just have a good time.

The world we live in today, is only accelerating the consequences and damage to our bodies. Too much sitting down, too much looking at phones, is only compounding.

Therefore our generation needs to work harder than ever if we want to continue to live the life we love. We are far less active than our parents, and grandparents were, and we will pay the price later down the line.

This is why avenues such as mobility training and yoga are becoming increasingly more popular, and necessary to our wellbeing today and tomorrow!

The way to unlock your full potential and achieve your health and gym goals! 🏋️✨

Get comfortable being uncomfortable. Nothing of value ever came easy. To go through a period of growth requires us to be challenged!

You may think every one else is doing it effortlessly but let me tell you, they arent ;)
It still takes dedication, and at times making yourself do the thing even when you dont want to do the thing.

The difference is, not letting these negative thoughts control your actions.

I have many days where I reaally "cbaaaaaaaaaaaa" to do the right stuff. But it make it non negotiable. I dont listen to those thoughts in my head. I turn on robot mode and get the deed done.

You dont wake up with motivation, you find motivation. How do we find motivation? By taking action. Action after action, accumulates to habits, to accumulate to lifestyle, till eventually it feels weird and off going without it.

Trust the journey, and just take the small action that you can make yourself do.

You can be strong and flexible at the same time! Your balance is off if you arent.

If you strength train and notice you're getting stiffer, tighter, and less range of movement from it then try these tips:

1. Make sure you are working through the full range of movement. Can you make the exercise you are working on any deeper, perhaps adding in elevated platforms, or going lighter to have strength through full range.
2. Adding in mobility exercises during your workout, either as supersets or to make a circuit, or if its too distracting ensuring you add them end of the session.
3. Always finishing off your session with stretches. The best time to stretch and lengthen out the muscles is immediately after you have hammered them with a load of shortening exercises. E.g if you have just done loads of leg curls, make sure you put your legs in their stretched hamstring position to offset this! This will help prevent your muscles shortening and tightening up which greatly compounds over time.

There is no reason why you cannot be a strong resilient human that is both strong af, and super mobile and has access to full range of movement!

Dont be the gym bro that can bench loads, but cant lift his arms overhead.

‼️ Guilty of these bad habits ⁉️😯

These habits are not going to help you keep moving well pain-free for life.
These habits will results in you developing a worse cycle whereby your body continues to feel more stiff and sore and the amount of movement you can do becomes less and less.

Right now you may feel you can live with the fact you cannot touch your toes, and then you are ok with only being able to touch your knees, and then before you realise you cannot bend over to pick something up off the floor without pain. Or maybe you realise you want to start training at the gym and realise you have not got the functional healthy range to pick a barbell off the floor, and/or without pain if you do not bend your knees.

Small losses in movement accumulate over time, and sneak up on you so before you realise you are no longer "fit" for a task, and at a high risk of injury. You put your back out, your knee goes, your shoulder pinches...

Prevent pain, prevent stiffness, move well for life.

👵🏻 🔨 Do you tell yourself you're just broken, as your excuse to not do anything to make it right?

Why are YOU any different, why cant you like everyone else, improve your movement and live more abundantly? Do you excuse oh but the doctor said I have this diagnosis.... sure, there is a very small portion of diagnoses that are life-limiting and will get worse, but the MAJORITY usually there is no reason why you cannot improve your movement, your pain and stiffness levels.

And sadly, with no disrespect to doctors, to aire on the side of caution before seeing a physio- wouldnt you also guide oh yes just back off a little in fear to not make things worse... yet we then stay trapped in this position of never actually returning to moving well and having a good time! 🏌️‍♂️🏂🏋️‍♀️🤸‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Thats why usually the first message as a physio is, GET MOVING! and installing CONFIDENCE back in our clients that movement is medicine and this is how we are going to do it safely :) But generally... for MOST conditions, movement still is medicine!! Even when you've ruined your ACL, they have found in studies for those that got moving and loading sooner, got better quicker! Yes we must be mindful of our body's natural healing process, our inflammatory levels, and still be smart... but if you have the mentality of AVOIDING altogether, then this needs looking at, and building trust back into your body ❣️

I provide you with the coaching and self management tools you can keep doing the things in life you love, without pain, injury, stiffness or tightness.

How do i do this? I provide online yoga and mobility plans, intertwined with physio consultations as necessary, to assess, appropriately diagnoses, and provide holistic mind body solutions.

❣️But how am i different, how do i combine the expertise of being a physio, yoga teacher and mobility lover! 🤸🏽‍♀️

I feel what makes me different as an online coach, is my specialist knowledge and experience I have accumulated as a physio. I have successfully treated and managed many patients with complex pain, and have great respect to how complex, fascinating and intelligent the human mind and body is.

If we truly want to move and feel better in the long run, it is imperative to recognise the mind and body relationship. As a qualified physio who has successfully treated chronic pain and tightness, alongside a whole host of medical conditions, injuries and illnesses, AND being a yoga teacher- what sets me apart from other movement coaches is that I will never disregard the mindbody relationship.

My exercise selection and prescription will improve your symptoms and help you move better. But what makes me different, is my ability to recognise individuals that need a higher complex level of input that goes beyond simply training the body with exercise.

Some individuals greatly benefit from a holistic approach that takes into consideration all the complex drivers that is causing their body's to be in pain or hold tightness and stiffness. That goes beyond just physical. We are more than just “tight hamstrings” or “arthritic hips”. We need to consider the whole being, and how you can truly feel good in both your mind and body to actually live abundantly and freely.

In working with my clients I will always be mindful, screen, and coach, if there are more complex barriers under the mindbody relationship that could prevent getting the results we want. So if you tried exercise programs in the past that didn't work- maybe my approach that considers beyond just exercise, with medical understanding, could be your next best to try.

Sit too much? These are they key areas to focus on!👌

1️⃣ Pec stretch: When we sit we tend to slump - the chest muscles then become tight, and it becomes harder to reset the posture to roll the shoulders back again.
2️⃣ Hip flexor stretch: When we sit with the hips in the flexed position in sitting, they shorten and become tight, so it is important to stretch them through extension (the opposite move).
3️⃣ Hip flexor strengthen: To help prevent them tightening up and also prevent your hammys tighten up, it is important to strengthen the hip flexors to counteract this.
4️⃣ Back strength: Strengthen the back in the opposite posture that you are not spending enough time in.
5️⃣ Back release: Spend time in this position to offload and support the discs.

WHEN MASSAGE SADLY ISN'T ENOUGH 😢👎

Well it depends, do you want a temporary fix? Or are you at the stage now where you're bored of having to constantly either self massage or pay for massages and want a long term solution??

For all those who want to move and feel better - you CAN. You just have to start and put in the work. Change doesn’t happen overnight or quickly, but it DOES happen through hard work and consistency - and that goes for many things in life.

In order to stay consistent you have to enjoy it. So if the old physio exercises arent working for you, maybe its time to try something new.

🚨 To those who ask where/how to start improving your movement to live a pain free life, here’s my options for you:

1️⃣ You enjoy training, using weights, resistance bands and so fourth - then pick my movement mobility plan that encompasses this style of building strength to get more mobile!
2️⃣ Enjoy a more artistic approach, connecting with your mind and flowing through movement to release fascia, connective tissue, and still incorporate strength building to achieve greater mobility- pick my yoga plan.
3️⃣ Or combine the two! I have clients that do one yoga session and two mobility sessions for their week to keep it fun and varied as both styles of training bring differing feel good responses! 💪

It all comes down to how bad you want it. If you want change, you’ll work hard for it. If you don’t, you’ll make excuses.

Are you ready to join the gang of healthy happy movers?! Link in bio for my fb community, or to book a free consult, or simply see the programs on offer. My dms are always open for your questions to find out a bit more 😊
