PRESENTING: One great thing about being a speaker and an author is I get to send people home with my books (forced or otherwise 😉).

And now I’ve got a new one to add to the mix 📚

Each of my books are based on what I’ve seen as the big themes and issues raised in conversations in people that I’ve worked with over the years (as well as the many conversations I have in my own head). Some of the themes woven throughout my books include: prevention and healing from burnout, transformation after crisis, mid-life stress, self-discovery, the gift of solitude, the power of empathy, meaning-making after adversity, self-compassion, and always, always… the importance of connection. These discussions are incredibly relevant and can help people work through difficult periods in their lives, as well as build their psychological capabilities for the future when they may need them.

I’ve loved speaking at workplaces and industry events this year, giving people some practical tools they’ll use in their professional and personal life. As well as the space to know that they are certainly not alone in how they are feeling. Plus, after the presentation, they get to walk away with a book to support their ongoing growth.

ONLY YOU: All of us will likely be alone at some point, either by choice or because it has been imposed on us. Sometimes aloneness is for a moment, sometimes it’s for a while and sometimes it feels like forever. Sometimes aloneness is craved, but it is mostly feared, likely because it is symbiotically and unhelpfully tied to loneliness. We’ve learned that the two go hand in hand.

But being alone doesn’t equate to feeling lonely, in the same way that not being alone doesn’t equate to not feeling lonely. Being in a relationship with someone doesn’t always guarantee you won’t feel disconnected, disengaged or just psychologically on a different page from your partner.

So, seeing as we will all have a moment or two of being alone on our life journey, surely knowing how to do being alone well will be useful. Instead of nose-diving into the depths of psychological distress when it happens, we can learn to push past the initial discomfort and discover a different way to live that can be beneficial in so many ways.

ONLY YOU: In a world where people seem to rush too quickly to find themselves through other people, it’s often when you’re alone that you truly discover who you really are. This book is for those with broken hearts, who can’t stand silence, who need people more than air, who feel abandoned, who feel contempt for their significant other, who’ve been dumped, who are serial swipers, who are grieving, who want to break-up but are too scared, who find being by themselves nearly impossible and for those who want to learn how to personally grow.

I want your alone time to evolve into time that is so interesting, relished, fun and nourishing that you never fear it again. I want you to get to know yourself so well that you really think hard about who and what you let into the content life you’ve created. 🩵 💛

ONLY YOU: If you stop for a moment and think of the most beautiful songs composed in the past century, you will realise that they are rarely written with optimistic lyrics, filled with cheerful melodies, bouncing with peppy beats or sung with elated emotional gusto… artists who we have never met validate exactly how we are feeling, or may have felt, at some point in our lives.

We all know what song to dig out of the playlist when we need some validation for our own loneliness, to help us process the mess of heartbreak and to motivate us to get up and get on with our life alone. I’ve wallowed my way through more than a few Phil Collins songs in my time ... or perhaps it wasn’t too many, but rather just enough.

I get all nostalgic in ‘ONLY YOU: The Unexpected Gift of Being Alone’ out in April 2026.

What were/are your go-to songs to soothe a broken heart? 💔

NEW BOOK: What if the most transformative relationship you'll ever have is the one with yourself?

I ask this question in my new book, ‘ONLY YOU: The Unexpected Gift of Being Alone’ which is ready to hit bookstores in a couple of months.

We've been sold the story that happiness requires a partner. That being single is a waiting room, a problem to solve, a gap to fill. But being alone doesn't equate to feeling lonely, in the same way that not being alone doesn't guarantee you won't feel lonely. Aloneness strikes us all at times, for many different reasons, and unfortunately, it’s something people tend to struggle with.

It also seems more socially acceptable to be in a mediocre or even awful relationship than to not be in one at all, to spend time with the wrong people in the wrong places, to search for someone to fill the void than to sit in the emotion of loneliness to understand what it’s really about. This book is about how to navigate the pain of being alone, whether through heartbreak, singleness, or loss and ultimately turn solitude into a powerful, enriching experience of self-discovery and growth.

The most important relationship you will ever have in your life IS the one that you have with yourself.

Beyond excited for this one to be out in the world! 🤗

ONLY YOU: I’m so excited to announce that I’ve written a new book! 🤗

Aloneness strikes us all at times, for a variety of reasons, and unfortunately, people don’t do well with it. It also seems more socially acceptable to be in a mediocre or even awful relationship than to not be in one at all, to spend time with the wrong people in the wrong places, to search for someone to fill the void than to sit in the emotion of loneliness to understand what it’s really about.

I wanted to write a book about how to navigate the pain of being alone, whether through heartbreak, singleness, or loss and ultimately turn solitude into a powerful, enriching experience of self-discovery and growth. Because it can be!

My Story

I am a Psychologist, Personal Development Coach, Keynote Speaker and Media Commentator. I hold a Bachelor Degree in Psychology as well as a Doctor of Psychology degree, with Health & Community specialities. As a result of working in the industry for over 20 years, I have found that stress and an anxious mindset underpin the majority of issues, as well as stop people reaching their full potential.

The challenges that many people face are that they lack the knowledge, the mindset and the lifestyle balance that one needs to live a healthy, satisfying & fulfilling life and resilient to stress. To solve these problems I offer corporate consulting / workshops and personal coaching packages to clients as well as present at workplace events. I speak on a wide range of topics and currently have THE THRIVING PROFESSIONAL packages available for organisations. I am also available as a Keynote Speaker for special events. I am passionate about prevention and increase people's capacity to live life in the most psychologically and physically healthy way possible.

I provide media commentary on a variety of mental health topics on TV, radio and in print. I am a columnist and am the Resident Psychologist for Channel Nine Live in Perth.
