Facial Rejuvenation by

This patient underwent a deep plane face and neck lift, combined with upper and lower blepharoplasty, resulting in a softer, more harmonious, and naturally refreshed appearance. (Pictured before and 3 months postoperatively)

The deep plane facelift works beneath the skin to lift and reposition the deeper facial tissues, supporting the midface, softening the nasolabial region, and restoring cheek position without an overly tight appearance.

For the neck, the technique addresses laxity in both the anterior and lateral regions by repositioning the platysma and deeper structures. This helps create a smoother contour under the chin and a more defined jawline from multiple angles.

Where clinically appropriate, volume can be restored using autologous fat transfer to selected areas such as the cheeks and perioral region, supporting natural, softer facial contours.

The eyelid procedures complemented the overall rejuvenation. Upper blepharoplasty removed excess upper lid skin, helping the eyes appear more open and rested. Lower blepharoplasty addressed lower lid puffiness and supported a smoother transition between the lower eyelid and the midface.

Surgical planning is individualised to each patient’s anatomy and goals, guided by detailed clinical assessment and careful planning.

Facial Rejuvenation by

I am pleased to share this before and after example from one of my adult patients at approximately 8 months postoperative.

This patient underwent a deep plane face and neck lift with upper blepharoplasty, resulting in a refreshed and natural appearance. Notably, she did not have a lower blepharoplasty. Her lower lid cheek junction improved through midface elevation achieved with the deep plane facelift.

In my approach to deep plane face and neck lifts, I aim to address all aspects of the neck, including the anterior and lateral regions, to support a smoother and more contoured profile from multiple angles by repositioning the platysma and deeper structures. The deep plane facelift also provides meaningful midface elevation, which can soften the nasolabial region and, in selected patients, may be balanced with a lateral brow lift to support harmony across the periorbital and temporal regions.

Where clinically appropriate, I incorporate autologous fat grafting to specific areas such as the malar and perioral regions to help restore volume changes associated with ageing. This can contribute to a more harmonious three dimensional restoration that remains true to the individual’s anatomy. When indicated, pairing procedures such as upper and lower blepharoplasty can work synergistically by addressing excess skin and fat herniation while supporting a seamless blend with the broader facial rejuvenation plan.

Facial Rejuvenation by

Seen here at 8 months postoperative, this lovely patient has progressed well through healing with a refreshed, balanced appearance while maintaining her individual features.

Her tailored facial rejuvenation plan included a deep plane face and neck lift, lower eyelid blepharoplasty, and a lip lift, supported by fat injections as appropriate to restore soft, age related volume changes.

The deep plane approach is designed to reposition deeper facial structures for improved midface support and neck definition, rather than relying on skin tension alone. Lower blepharoplasty helps reduce the prominence of fat pads and smooth the eyelid cheek junction. In selected individuals, a lip lift may enhance upper lip show and facial proportions. Fat transfer is used strategically to help achieve harmony between facial regions when assessment indicates volume restoration is suitable.

Surgical planning is individualised to each patient’s anatomy and goals, informed by detailed clinical examination and careful planning. Ultimately, the most natural and harmonious results occur when all aspects of the face have been addressed.

Facial Rejuvenation by

At seven months postoperative this patient is healing well and demonstrates natural, long lasting results.

The deep plane facelift repositions and supports the deeper facial tissues while targeted fat grafting restores youthful volume. When clinically appropriate, combining the deep plane face and neck lift with upper and lower blepharoplasty, a brow lift and selective micro fat injections can provide a comprehensive and natural result with refreshed contours, improved neck definition and a balanced lid cheek transition while maintaining individuality.

Planning is tailored to each patient’s goals and anatomy, using careful clinical assessment and, where appropriate, three dimensional photography and digital planning.

Information for Our Interstate Patients

A frequent question we receive from patients outside Western Australia is whether Dr Linda Monshizadeh FRACS consults or operates interstate, particularly in Sydney and Melbourne.

Dr Monshizadeh does not operate in Sydney or Melbourne; however, she frequently consults with patients from across Australia, including NSW and Victoria. Initial consultations for interstate patients typically take place via Zoom, followed by a series of face to face consultations at our practice in Perth closer to your scheduled surgery date.

Patients travelling interstate for surgery are asked to remain in Perth for a minimum of seven days following their procedure, allowing attendance at the important one week postoperative appointment. Subsequent follow-up appointments can typically be managed conveniently via Zoom.

Shaping the Future of Australian Plastic Surgery

This month I had the privilege of serving on the interview panel, helping to select the next generation of Australian plastic surgeons. It's an honour to contribute to our specialty and support young surgeons on their journey.

Becoming a plastic surgeon is a path defined by commitment, personal sacrifice and rigorous training. Following 5 to 7 years of medical school, newly qualified doctors spend another 5 to 10 years (or more) gaining valuable practical experience before they are eligible to apply for specialist training.

Those who successfully navigate the highly competitive national selection process enter the Surgical Education and Training (SET) program with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). The SET program requires at least five additional years of intensive training, during which junior surgeons receive ongoing mentorship from senior surgeons dedicated to upholding the highest standards.

Throughout training, surgeons are consistently tested and must pass multiple rigorous examinations, including the challenging final fellowship exam, to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). Even after achieving their FRACS qualification, many surgeons pursue further training in their chosen subspecialty.

Education in medicine, particularly surgery, is lifelong and continuously evolving. Reflecting on this ongoing journey, the words of Sir Isaac Newton resonate deeply:

"If I have seen further, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants."

Pictured: A proud moment in Melbourne, 2017, receiving my Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Plastic Surgery.
