🦷🐾 Friday = Dr Mike's Day at the Animal Dermatology Clinic = Animal Dental Clinic!

Every Friday, Dr Mike joins us at our Murdoch clinic to take care of all things pet dentistry - from dental assessments and scale & polishes to more complex procedures. 🩺🪥

He’s an experienced vet with a special interest in dental care, so your pets are in skilled hands when it comes to keeping those teeth healthy and those smiles bright!

🩺 Routine blood tests

If your pet is on long-term treatment, we do annual blood monitoring. It's a simple way to check how things are going internally and make sure their treatment plan is still the best fit for them.

When it comes to procedures that require anaesthesia, we’ll often recommend a recent blood test beforehand - especially if your pet hasn’t had one in the last 12 months or if they’re a little older. This helps us make safe and informed decisions for each individual pet.

These checks are quick, gentle, and incredibly useful for picking up changes before they become problems. It’s all part of keeping your pet feeling their best - inside and out. 💛

We recently saw a beautiful patient, accompanied by their loyal support horse, for an in-depth allergy workup. It’s always a team effort around here! ❤️

We perform intradermal allergy testing, which remains the gold standard for diagnosing environmental allergies in horses. From grasses and weeds to moulds, insects and mites, this test helps us pinpoint the specific allergens causing discomfort — so we can build a personalised treatment plan.

All equine dermatology consults are done in partnership with the Equine Services team at The Animal Hospital, Murdoch University, giving your horse access to a multidisciplinary specialist team.

This big mucous plug was flushed out during a video otoscopy ear flush. This procedure lets us look deep inside the ear canal and safely remove and clean out thick debris that’s causing discomfort. ✨

Once the ear is cleaned, we can properly assess the canal and plan the right treatment for the infection - making sure pets get the relief they need. 💛

👉 If your pet is head shaking, scratching their ears, or has smelly discharge, book them in for a consult. The sooner we check, the sooner they can feel better!

This little cattle dog pup looks extra sleepy after his sedation wore off - he was in for a very important BAER hearing test. 💛

Since some cattle dogs can be born deaf, breeders bring their litters in around 8 weeks of age to make sure each pup is tested before heading to their forever homes. 🐾

A calm recovery, a wagging tail, and a bright future ahead - that’s what we love to see.🌸
