An offering to welcome in the new year with joyful intention ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’ซ

Saturday 29th January 2022, 2โ€“4.30pm at Bodyscape

So excited to be collaborating with the beautiful Lenore Munro to bring you an afternoon not to be missed. We shall share some of our favourites practices (as well as our voices โ˜บ) to open the heartspace, come together in community and leave feeling ready to move forward into this new year calm, connected and joyous.

What to expect:
This offering incorporates the tools of yoga such as asana (flow and yin), pranayama, mudra, mantra, and mindfulness โ€“ to open the heart and guide you within...to inspire clarity and foster connection. ๐Ÿ’—

We will guide you through a heart-centred practice to ground, connect and focus your energy before lovingly setting intentions for the new year.

Please bring a journal and pen.

There will be refreshments and time to connect after the workshop.

Dear Premier,

Over the last twelve months, the people of Western Australia have demonstrated resilience and adaptability to frequent change. For the most part, decisions have seemed reasonable.

But there is one group of people who have been disregarded in policy and decision making.

One group of people who are already vulnerable.

One group of people who until now, have accepted what they have been offered as the best that could be offered.

But enough is enough.

We have heard you preach over and over again.

Mark McGowan, make it make sense.

People giving birth are permitted ONE support person. And in public hospitals, that person had to leave after the birth, NOT permitted to return.

We have empty birthing wards.

We have vulnerable people, who have given birth, alone in these wards. In some cases, they have experienced trauma. In some cases, they are struggling with the adjustment of having a new baby, sometimes experiencing the onset of PND and other mental illnesses. All compounded by being forcibly isolated from their support networks.

And the amazing thing is, most risks can be managed and mitigated.

We are asking you to consider our requests. To listen and to truly hear us. This is your opportunity to ensure support for new parents. To prioritise mental health.

Thank you for reading. And please know, we will not stop until we are heard.

I believe pregnancy should be honoured, supported, revered.

I believe that yoga provides amazing tools to
- deal with the physical and emotional changes pregnant women experience as they journey to motherhood
- strengthen, soften and prepare for birth and post-partum
- manage the nervous system, relax and find calm during what can be a very stressful/anxious time
- guide women back to listening to their intuition and trusting themselves.

I believe that all women are strong and are capable of amazing things with the right support.

Physically well, emotionally safe.

This is what women deserve in birth. And they are being let down far, far too often. This is why I organised a screening of the documentary, Birth Time . Because I believe EVERYONE needs to see it so we can start to change the culture around birth in Australia. (Thank you to .film

Nearly 200 people came on Thursday night Leederville and applauded at the end of this brilliantly made documentary. And afterwards I gathered with some women and we shared our stories of birth and early motherhood, both heartbreaking and inspirational.
