On my mind:

Dealing with or being/feeling stuck β€” with People that don't take responsibility or accountability β€”

πŸ›‘ STOP wasting your energy,
Listen to your inner voice,
Connect with the Divine or
Your Spiritual Support line,
Honour your experience and feelings,
Speak up if you need to, and Let go.
Be clear and concise.
NO is okay.
Quiet and strong is okay.
Take the time you need to process your emotions.

You own the decision,
RESPECT your worth!
Create a shift.
Create space.

How do they engage?
Is it wrong, restrictive, a fight?
Is it right for you?
STEP back from aggressive people and situations.

βœ‚οΈ CUT the cords to unhealthy connections.
πŸ¦‰ CREATE new reciprocal cords.

πŸ—Ό INSPIRE and EMPOWER yourself and others through your instrument of change.
Create the norm that's right for you.

Speak with a counsellor if you need to.

Everything is working out for you. ❀️

That's exactly right. I absolutely agree with Dr Gabor Mate. His insights on addiction resonate deeply with my advocacy work and the societal shift we so desperately need. As a society, we need to be asking more questions and seek to understand the conditions that contribute to addiction i.e. the root causes of addiction, and address those issues-rather than resorting to shame and blame. Addiction isn't just about the substance or the behaviour itself- it's about the underlying conditions that drive people to seek control or relief. As Dr Mates mentions, understanding the brain's dopamine-driven responses to life's challenges can shed light on the root causes of addiction. This also ties into a broader issue I am addressing in an article I am finalising: the often misunderstood concept of assertiveness. Like addication, assertiveness is frequently misunderstood-- mistaken as combative rather than a healthy, boundary-setting practice that promotes mutual respect. These misunderstandings, coupled with societal standards, outdated laws, and the traditional handling of medical and mental health diagnoses, treatments, and outcomes, contribute to cycles of harm that ripple across families, lifetimes, generations, and even entire cultures. If you're interested in exploring these connections further and delving into the nuances of these important topics, subscribe to my Substack (link in comments below πŸ‘‡) so you're notified when the article is published. Let's work toward fostering understanding and breaking the cycles that perpetuate shame, blame and disconnection.

⏰ IT'S TIME FOR FOOD FOR THOUGHT 🧠

πŸ‘‚ Hearing this YouTube Short by Jordan Peterson I am inspired to write this quick post-

The meaning of 'no': Don't you think it has been watered down?

Perhaps this gives reason as to why we see boundaries being overstepped, a rise in domestic violence, increase in mental health unwellness, complacency and subservience.

❓ How was the meaning of 'no' taught to you?

❓ As a child, were you taught to have patience with others?

❓ Did you grow up with an imbalance in the treatment of siblings?

❓ Were you raised with a strict hand and severe punishment?

❓ Did you observe one thing and be told another?

❓ Were you brought up during the era of seen and not heard?

Perhaps lessons surrounding 'no' were confusing and a mixture of complex messaging.

Perhaps you haven't thought of asking yourself these questions and it raises feelings or stirs memories.

❓ NO... What does it mean to you, do you enforce it, if so how?

Consider-
How this may contribute to domestic violence.

How this plays out in different generations of leaders.

What this looks like in your parenting Style.

How you might improve on your statement and enforcement of a no.

How you teach this to children.

How an absence of a no contributed to a situation.

Whether you considered this as a contribution factor to anxiety and PTSD.

πŸ˜‚ On a serious note:

Mindset, Maintenance and Balance -

Stay active, nurture healthy eating habits, and prioritise nutrition. Embrace a stress-less lifestyle with self-care and emotional wellbeing at the core. Set healthy boundaries to reduce or eliminate toxic relationships and behaviour for a more peaceful existence. Whether it's spiritual, religious or other connection (whatever that means for you) and of course, economic independence, these all promote optimum wellbeing which is naturally age-defying.
