The Rossmoyne facility boasts a pool that can be utilised for therapy and well equipped modern private gym. ARTHRITIS

If you have recently been given a diagnosis of arthritis, it is easy to assume that minimising exercise will prevent further pain and slow the disease progression. In fact, this could not be further from the truth.

Research continues to provide a strong position for structured exercise as one of the most effective treatments for arthritis. This is due to the capacity for it to improve joint mobility and flexibility, increase muscle strength and postural stability, and decrease pain, fatigue (tiredness), muscle tension and stress.

It is also important to remember that exercise will simultaneously improve your heart and lung function, increase your bone strength, improve your mental health, reduce the risk of almost all chronic diseases and reduce your body weight.

NIAMH BRENNAN 🍀

Niamh grew up in Dublin, Ireland. She studied Physiotherapy at Trinity College Dublin. She has worked in both the private and public setting in Ireland. Niamh likes to use a combination of hands on therapy and exercise prescription to manage a variety of conditions.

She has a interest in managing hip and knee conditions. In particular rehab following joint replacements. Outside of the clinic you will see Niamh hiking or working on her own strength training. She is new to Perth and loves recommendations on places to see during her time off!

GLP-1 AGONIST DRUGS

KATE 🏃

Kate grew up in the Perth hills (Mundaring) and enjoys being amongst the outdoors, running or hiking in nature.
Kate has completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage Therapy through North Metropolitan TAFE. Kate offers a variety of treatment modalities and techniques for soft tissue manual therapy, including myofascial release, sports massage, trigger point therapy, functional cupping, deep tissue massage, joint mobilisation and sports taping.

Kate has experience providing treatments for a variety of athletes including Perth Glory women’s team, Perth Scorchers Cricket men and women’s teams, WAIS WA synchronised swim team, running events, Busselton Ironman and the Dwellingup 100 MTB race.

In her spare time you will most likely find Kate training for Ultra Marathons, she has completed several distances solo including MRU, UTA 100, Transcend, Birdys and Herdys backyards, 70.3 Ironman and the Rottnest Channel Swim duo.

Start your mornings with our Urban Trail Running program at Garvey Park! 🏃‍♂️☀️

This 9-week series is designed to help you build confidence, capacity and skills to explore Perth’s stunning natural trails🌳

You’ll be guided through the techniques and preparation needed to run safely and confidently on natural terrain.

This program is suitable for those aged 16 years and above that have running experience and are comfortable with running/jogging for 10 minutes continuously.

CORRIE JOHNSTONE

Corrie has been a Triathlon Australia Accredited Development Coach since 2013 and completed her Performance Coach accreditation in 2018. Corrie additionally holds Certificates 3 & 4 in Fitness. She has extensive experience in coaching beginner to advanced athletes to multiple personal bests, age group podiums, and World Championship qualifications in both Ironman and Ironman 70.3 distances. She has also coached two female trail runners to complete Fastest Known Time (FKT) records, with several athletes achieving podiums and wins in ultra distance trail races.

A triathlete herself for 4 years, Corrie has personal experience racing various distances of triathlon and has completed eight 70.3 distance triathlons with a number of top 10 age group results, as well placing 3rd in the Overall Pursuit Sprint Series 25-29F in the 14/15 season. She has raced as an A grade cyclist in WA, placed 2nd in the State Open/Elite Road Race Championship in 2017, was 1st Female at the ATTA 2018 Hill Climb Championship and Overall Female Winner of the Goldfields Cyclassic 2018. She also competed in the 2018 Gran Fondo World Championships in Varese, Italy representing her home country of Canada.

Resistance/strength training 🏋️can be effective for long-term weight control.

Our muscle size plays a major role in determining our resting metabolic rate (RMR); the amount of calories your body requires to function at rest.

Resting metabolic rate accounts for 60-75% of total energy expenditure in non-exercising people, and fat is the body’s preferred energy source at rest.

Increasing muscle size through resistance/strength training increases RMR, therefore increasing or sustaining fat loss over time!
