This National Carer's Week, we want to thank and celebrate all carers.

Parents, carers and families play a vital role in the lives of young people, and we see your resilience, courage, and dedication. Your commitment makes an incredible difference to young people, helping them to feel supported through their mental health journey.

For many years, thanks to the generosity of the people of WA, Telethon7 Perth funding has helped us provide counselling and mental health services to young people across WA. For young people in the Peel and South West region, this funding allows us to expand our services to meet young people where they need support.

Our team across the South West took Telethon7’s Fat Cat on an adventure ahead of the Telethon Family Festival, giving him a glimpse into the impact that Telethon7 funding has on the lives of young people in regional WA.

Telethon Family Festival is this weekend and we can’t wait to see everyone there!

Our team attended the 2025 WA Mental Health Awards, a celebration of all the inspiring individuals and organisations who are making a difference towards mental health in WA.

We are proud sponsors of the Innovation in Service Delivery Award - which was joint awarded to Deadly Minds Matter (Shooting Stars) and Raphael Services (St John of God Health Care). This year's five finalists showcase the powerful impact that innovation and community-led initiatives can have in the mental health space.

Thank you to Western Australian Association for Mental Health for hosting the event, a great celebration to end WA Mental Health Week. We loved having the opportunity to celebrate those who are doing incredible work in our community.

Today is World Mental Health Day, which aims to raise awareness and address stigma related to mental health.

Here’s a quick reminder to check in with a friend.

If they are going through a difficult time, you don’t need to have all the answers. Just listen, be there, and remind them that people care and want to help.

We are so excited to announce that we have received a Lotterywest grant of $3.545 million to transform 28 Troode Street, West Perth into Perth’s first Youth Mental Health Hub!

This fit out will mean that young people in WA will have a safe and accessible space to access a range of services, including counselling, work and study support, integrated physical and mental health care, and social services around issues such as alcohol and other drugs, homelessness, and family and domestic violence – all under one roof and at no cost to young people or their families.

We are so very grateful for the support of Lotterywest in helping make our vision for a Youth Mental Health Hub come to life, and to Health and Mental Health Minister Meredith Hammat MLA for visiting us to present our funding certificate.

We can’t wait to share this journey with our community over the coming months!

WA Mental Health Week was officially launched at the annual headspace Albany Mad Hatters Tea Party.

As always, it was an incredible day where the community came together to talk about mental health. The day was an inclusive, insightful and fun celebration of community and mental health awareness.

WA Mental Health Week is a chance for us to reflect on the work we do to support young people's mental health, recognising that it takes a community to make lasting change.

We look forward to celebrating with young people, our teams, and our communities at events throughout the week.

Every young person’s mental health journey is unique. At Youth Focus, we work alongside each young person to ensure they feel comfortable, empowered and in control.

Our free mental health services give young people the opportunity to seek help and continue receiving support in a way that meets their needs and goals at that point in their lives.

Youth Focus is proud to be one of just two organisations nationally selected to take part in the Orygen Virtual Reality for Vocational Recovery (VR4VR) trial.

The six-week program uses VR technology to simulate real workplace scenarios, helping young people experiencing mental health challenges practice and build confidence in a safe, supported environment.

Guided by our Work and Study Specialists, participants can reflect on their experiences, process emotions, and develop practical strategies in the moment.

We believe this will offer young people the opportunity to break down barriers to seeking, securing and maintaining employment!

In one week the annual Mad Hatters Tea Party will be officially launching WA Mental Health Week!

We would love to see our community join us for this free, family-friendly event that celebrates mental health awareness through connection, creativity, and conversation.

Friday 3 October | 10am–1pm | Albany Town Square

Hosted by Albany, the event celebrates 12 years of connecting family and community members with local mental health organisations, breaking down stigma around mental health and having fun along the way.

Everyone is welcome – but don’t forget your Mad Hatter Hat!
