Kyle Cease comically models how to name how we feel in the moment. 😁
Imagine if we all vocalised our vulnerabilities like this?

Brief cameos include the perfectionist, the inferior complex, Mr insecure, miss married my father, drama queen, excessive attention seeking, superiority complex among others.

Seeing something through isn’t about guarantees. It’s about the quiet decision to keep going—even when your hands shake, your heart races, and your brain throws every reason not to.

Because the truth? Most people don’t make it through the journey not because they couldn’t—but because they stopped when it got heavy. Most people cave and gave up.

If you’re still on the path—uncertain, tired, but still moving—you’re already doing the hardest part.

"ADHD is not a disorder of knowing what to do... It’s a disorder of doing what you know.ā€
– Dr. Russell Barkley, Clinical Psychologist and ADHD Expert

The family environment is a bridge to the outside world for children with ADHD. šŸ‘Øā€šŸ‘©ā€šŸ‘§ā€šŸ‘¦šŸ‘©ā€šŸ‘§ā€šŸ‘§šŸ‘Øā€šŸ‘§ā€šŸ‘§ While the world is still catching up, our home can be the stepping stones to flexibility, understanding and fun.

What can you do?

ā˜‘ļø Learn about ADHD (not just the stereotypes)

ā˜‘ļøUse visual routines – externalize what the brain struggles to do internallyšŸ—“

ā˜‘ļø Focus on what works, not just what’s fair - being flexible and accommodating

ā˜‘ļø Be the prefrontal cortex until theirs matures – patiently and with compassion

The more you understand, the less you’ll blame.
And the more accommodations are offered, the more they’ll thrive.

Kristen Pressner discusses a concept called the "Brain friend", to actually help families adapt the tools for Neurodivergent and Adhders.

We all have that friend, colleague or family member who, despite obvious capability and potential, justā€¦ā€˜can't get it together’. What if there is a surprisin...

"We'll just figure it out eventually" - How's that working out so far?

Putting off family therapy because "we’ll figure it out"? The truth is, without the right tools, conflicts repeat, resentments grow, and communication breaks down. Therapy isn’t about "fixing"—it’s about learning how to move forward, together.

What’s one thing you wish you could discuss properly with your family.

Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD) can make relationships feel like an emotional rollercoaster.šŸŽ¢

RSD makes you second-guess everything.šŸ¤” That one unread message? Probably means they’re mad. That slightly different tone? You must have done something wrong. Instead of asking, we retreat—silent, hurt, isolated.

If your current situation is contributing to this, it may be time to book in an appointment with us.
We offer telehealth and face to face.

Self-Awareness & Emotional Intelligence

Being self-aware is a key sign of emotional intelligence, but recognizing our own emotions isn't always easy. Often, we don't even realize what we're feeling—just that something feels "off."

Building emotional awareness takes practice, but even small steps—like naming a feeling—can lead to greater self-understanding and growth. Have you ever struggled to put your emotions into words?

Racial discrimination isn’t just about policy—it affects mental health, identity, and belonging. Acknowledging history helps us break cycles of harm, foster empathy, and commit to change.

ADHD update.. Local Government initiatives impact our wider ADHD community. Access to services is detrimental to now and future generations of Western Australians.

ADHD WA would like to congratulate the Premier, Roger Cook, and his Government on their successful re-election.

ADHD WA, along with the rest of the State look forward to the implementation of the plans and pledges put forward in the election campaign.

The commitment by the WA Labor Party to support people with ADHD and address the waitlists for health care and services will make a significant difference to many people in Western Australia.

ADHD WA looks forward to working with the re-elected Government to implement the services promised in its $1.2 million pledge to provide support, information, and wraparound services for individuals and families in WA.

ADHD affects 1 in 20 individuals in Australia. The services ADHD WA will provide under this funding will ensure those impacted by ADHD have access to accurate and practical information and support services. This will assist to reduce the impact of ADHD on individuals, families, schools and the wider community and will be based on evidence-based practice and supported by our skilled and experienced staff.
