I haven't quite landed after the most soul nourishing and heart expanding weekend away.

Thank you to - you girls have truly cracked me open as a woman and allowed me to feel fully accepted (and celebrated) for being me. I have never felt safer to be myself in a group of women. We are all so different but have come together through our passion of dance to find each other. I am eternally grateful.

Thank you to for hosting the most genuinely heart-felt festival. What you have created is magical. More women need to experience the power that comes when we gather. No expectations... just an open heart and willing mind.

Being a SELFLESS mother is NOT a badge of honour.

If you have convinced yourself that you need to put your kids first…then you have it wrong.

Your kids look to you as their role model.

How they witness you looking after yourself and tending to your own needs will influence the way that they look after themselves.
Your ability to be selfish is silently scripting their own self-worth.

The other morning, I had rolled out my yoga mat to start my day with some ‘me-time’. Peace on the mat before the pressures of the day set in. The house was quiet and still.
10 minutes into my routine, my youngest woke up.
Some mums would have used this as their que to stop doing yoga and start doing breakfast, packing lunches, making beds, and getting everyone ready for the day.

🙅🏻‍♀️ NOT ME 🙅🏻‍♀️

I knew that all of this could wait, and I could continue to claim this time for me.
And the cool thing is that my daughter instinctively knew this, too.
She walked straight to the couch and laid there for 20 minutes in silence while I completed my flow.
After I was done, she came over, and we had the most delightful morning cuddle.

Showing your kids the importance of self-care (especially when it comes to looking after your health) is so powerful. They need to see you looking after yourself so they learn how to do it for themselves. Giving them the message that your needs are important and you will not sacrifice what you need for them. Their needs can wait while you tend to yourself first.
I truly believe that me being selfish in these moments is the best thing I can do for my kids.

Your weakness around food is NOT the problem.
Your inability to stop yourself from giving into your cravings is not going to be fixed with more willpower.
The regret and guilt you feel afterwards is keeping you stuck in a cycle of sabotage.

When you overeat, you are not being ‘bad’.
Your body is trying to talk to you in the only way in can – through urges, cravings, and safety seeking.
It’s saying…
🫣 ”I’m tired.”
🫣 “I’m stressed.”
🫣 “I’m not feeling cared for.”
🫣 “I’m undernourished.”
🫣 “I’m worn out.”
🫣 “I’ve had enough pretending.”

You feel like the food is the problem…but it is merely the messenger.

What’s underneath your late-night binge session is much deeper…
…the pressure from showing up for everyone else,
…the juggling of all the balls,
…the loneliness,
…the way that you have abandoned yourself,
…the skipped meals,
…the constant feeling that you have to hold it all together.

And when it all builds up, your body ends up seeking out comfort, safety, and something that helps you feel okay again (even if only for a moment).

So no, you didn’t fail.
You were trying to soothe pain in the only way you knew how in that moment.

The next time it happens, instead of asking,
😩 “What’s wrong with me?”
try asking,
🤔 “What is my body trying to tell me right now?”

That’s where the healing and cycle breaking really starts.
You don’t need more control, willpower, guilt-trips, or stricter rules.
You need to tune in with compassion, gentleness, and curiosity.

Yesterday, I hooked myself up to my bioImpedence analysis (BIA) machine. It uses an electrical current to capture my body composition.

It's been 4 years since I last did one of these, and I really didn't have any expectations.
I was 100% curious.
My body is in a different phase of life (I am deeper into my perimenopause journey).
A lot has happened (my day-to-day life is different now that I live in the country).
I have not been overly concerned about any body composition goals. I've just been living my life and focusing on feeling good in myself - letting 'health' (not skinniness) guide my choices.

The data I was shown in this scan today was very interesting and taught me a lot.

😐The difference in my weight over the last 4 years is an increase of 300g (literally the weight of a good 💩).
😐Over the last 4 years, my muscle mass has increased by 1.5kg (explains why I can now do chinups for the first time in my life).
😐My total body water is up by 2.6kg (with the majority of it being intracellular water, which reflects more optimal hydration).
😐My body fat is down by 4kg - interesting, considering I am eating more and doing less 'gym' hours.

All of this data confirms that I have cracked the code, found what my body feels good for, and is happily able to maintain.
