SUPPORTING SSRIs

So, mental health, and emotional health are my specialty.
And seeing a particular client this week prompted me to want to post
about the importance of supporting your SSRI.
Your sertraline your Zoloft your Lexapro your Eleva.
These medications work by allowing the calming neurotransmitter serotonin to stay around your brain
for longer,
which is great. But the catch is,
you need to be making the serotonin first,
in your GUT. You need specific nutrients
and good gut flora for that to happen for you to make serotonin.
So that's where I come in. So identifying those nutrient imbalances, deficiencies, correcting
those and improving the gut mind connection - that can improve mood,
improve sleep, reduce pain, improve PMS,
PMDD, improve self-esteem,
reduce OCD-type checking, reduce carb cravings
and this applies to not just if you are taking medications
so that means it also applies to teenagers and to children.

In case you're not sure what to expect when you come to see me,
I thought I would compare it to something that's a bit more familiar,
which is a a GP appointment. So three of the main differences are number one,
your appointment with me is forty five minutes long.
So we can really get in-depth about the details of your symptoms and your health history,
your priorities, and your preferences.
What that means then is, number two,
your advice is going to be very personalised it's not going to be the same
as the advice that I give to anyone else.
And thirdly, that the purpose of that advice is to optimise cellular function,
to enhance and to support what your body is naturally capable of doing.
So we're not cutting anything out,
but we're not trying to shut anything down. We want to give you,
symptomatic relief, in a in a lasting way.

Have you noticed your stimulated child (or self!) doing these moves instinctively?
Movement is a sure way to shift energy, calm your system and remind you to b r e a t h e.
You don't even have to "know" what you're doing, just go with what feels right.

A little routine like this only needs to be a couple of minutes long, morning and/or night.
Even in the middle of the night or the wee hours of the morning if you wake up and the mind starts ticking. You can even do small moves in your bed!
