Medibank now recognises AMHSWs as mental health service providers.

Following successful advocacy by the AASW, Medibank Private will officially recognise Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSW) as eligible mental health service providers from 28 April 2025.

This change means Medibank members will be able to claim benefits for services delivered by AMHSWs, an important step forward for professional recognition and expanding access to social work-led mental health care.

This outcome strengthens the professional standing of AMHSWs and supports broader access to mental health services across Australia.

For more information, visit the help section of the Medibank website under claims and guides.

It’s understandable when people delay talking about or exploring palliative care options, however it’s important to know that palliative care is not synonymous with end of life care. You can access palliative care anytime from diagnosis and it can help you embrace life, knowing that any potential future suffering can be well managed.

Palliative care can be accessed in a range of settings including at home, in hospital, in a hospice or in a residential aged care facility, so you can live the life you choose comfortably for as long as possible.

This video offers more explanation: https://vimeo.com/629251076

Anticipatory, or 'living' grief, is when someone experiences feelings of loss before a person dies – possibly long before the actual time of death.…

It’s nearly National Palliative Care Week. I know I’ve been quiet online and usually I don’t know about these awareness weeks until afterwards, but this year I’ve been asked to create some content. Help! What questions do you have about palliative care?

Before his death, Thich Nhat Hanh said,

I don’t see why we have to say “I will die,” because I can already see myself in you, in other people, and in future generations. Even when the cloud is not there, it continues as snow or rain. It is impossible for a cloud to die. It can become rain or ice, but it cannot become nothing. The cloud does not need to have a soul in order to continue.'

Following the death of Thich Nhat Hanh, and his funeral this week, I wanted to share the beautiful words he wrote in anticipation of this event called ‘I am not here.’ I hope you find t…
