From watercolour paintings to Diamond Dot Art, their work was proudly displayed, and several residents were awarded ribbons for their efforts.

Pam, a newcomer to Diamond Dot Art, received a Highly Commended award for her “Baby Kittens” piece, created with guidance from fellow resident Sue. Sue and Victor also earned second place ribbons in their respective categories.

“I’ve never won anything in my life,” said Sue. “I do this because I love it. I love watching the Dot Art come to life. It makes me happy.”

At Regis Fawkner, winter is about more than keeping warm, it’s about feeling connected.

The Ladies Club began as a way to bring residents together in a relaxed, welcoming space. Over time, it’s become a cherished part of life in the home, with regular gatherings full of stories, laughter and shared purpose.

This week, the group embraced a beautiful Italian tradition of baking chestnut biscuits. The kitchen was filled with the rich aroma of roasted chestnuts and the warmth of memories.

“It’s not just about the biscuits,” one resident said. “It’s about the laughter in the kitchen, the shared stories over mixing bowls and the feeling of being part of something meaningful.”

Creating space for connection and joy isn’t just good for residents, it’s central to great care.

At Regis Lutwyche and Regis The Gap, something as simple as morning tea is helping build new friendships.

Residents from both homes have been meeting monthly as part of an inter-home social program, visiting each other’s communities and sharing conversation over tea and treats.

A Ladies' Conversation Group quickly became a regular catch-up with some residents having swapped phone numbers and staying in touch between visits.

Programs like this are part of Regis’ commitment to community and supporting connection in meaningful ways.

We’re baking much more than cakes. We’re creating connection, laughs and memories. Our National Bake Off is a dynamic celebration where residents, employees and families unite to showcase their baking talents, creativity and friendly spirit. With something sweet for everyone, it’s a joyful way to strengthen community ties.

“I haven’t baked in 20 years, and after a long time I got to bake a cake for a competition – it feels great,” shared Regis Woodlands resident, Shirley.

Residents were centre stage in this event, supported every step of the way by our lifestyle and catering teams, managers and family members. From whisking and decorating to storytelling, judging and sharing the finished bakes, there was a recipe for togetherness in every step.
