Most parents have never once thought about whether their kid could get glaucoma. It feels like an old person's disease…Something that creeps up on grandparents, not primary schoolers. 👴

But if your child is short-sighted, this is actually relevant to them. Not necessarily right now, but their future risk is being shaped by what's happening in their eyes today. 👀

Watch my latest YouTube video to understand what's actually happening inside a short-sighted eye and why slowing down that progression now matters more than most parents are told.

Meet Shae!

Shae has been one of Dr. Syafiq’s longest Ortho-K patients, and he’s been managing Shae’s myopia journey for almost 5 years!

She first started Ortho-K in high school when her myopia was progressing. The goal was to slow it down early, protect her long-term eye health and help her enjoy clear daytime vision without relying on glasses.

Since then, Shae’s vision has remained very stable with minimal eye growth over the years which is exactly what we strive to achieve with myopia management.

Now, Shae is in uni studying psychology, teaches piano and continues to enjoy the freedom of clear vision for study, driving, work and her everyday life.

Thinking about Ortho-K for yourself or your child? Send us a message to book for a consultation.

Ever noticed a “prism” section on a glasses prescription?
Most kids won’t have anything written there, but if they do, it’s actually helping the eyes work together more comfortably.
It doesn’t fix alignment… it just shifts the image so the eyes don’t have to fight to stay in sync.
Here’s what that means 👉https://youtu.be/jAcKlZgdEsQ

OD. OS. Sphere. Cylinder. Axis.
If your child’s glasses prescription looks like alphabet soup, I’m not surprised 😅
Once you know what each column means, the whole thing suddenly makes sense.
Let’s break down the basics 👉https://youtu.be/jAcKlZgdEsQ

That glasses prescription your child gets after an eye test? For most parents it looks like a secret code. Minus signs. Random numbers. Strange abbreviations 🙈
But if you don’t understand what those numbers mean, you can’t tell if your child’s vision is changing… or if those online glasses are even correct.
Let’s decode it 👉https://youtu.be/jAcKlZgdEsQ

This is one of the most common questions parents ask.

The purpose of Ortho-K in children is to slow progression during the growth years when myopia tends to increase the most.

It is not about permanent dependency.

At Myopia Care Clinic, we track axial length, monitor progression, and reassess suitability regularly. The plan evolves as your child grows.

Every child is different. Suitability matters.

If you’re unsure whether your child is a candidate, start with a proper Myopia Assessment.

Meet Yuming!

At 10 years old, Yuming came to us after her left eye prescription increased more than her right. One eye was doing most of the work, while the other had developed myopia that needed early intervention.

After starting Ortho-K Night Lenses, her improvement was quicker than expected. At just her 1-week review, she was already reading just one line above the perfect vision line with her treated eye.

Her parent shared, “She’s only been using it for one week and already has perfect vision. We are very happy.”

Our goal for Yuming is simple.. to slow down her myopia progression while giving her clear, comfortable vision for school and daily life.

It has been such a joy watching her confidence grow in such a short time.

At Myopia Care Clinic, beyond clarity, we care.

Nighttime glare.
Squinting.
Headaches after homework.
If you’re seeing a pattern, trust your gut. 👀
Your child isn’t being “difficult,” they might just be struggling to see clearly.
And catching it early makes all the difference.

If your child’s prescription changed again this year, you’re not alone.

Most parents are told to “monitor and review next year.”

But progression tends to continue unless something actively slows it.

At Myopia Care Clinic, we measure axial length, map the cornea, and assess risk properly before recommending treatment.

The earlier we intervene, the better the long-term outlook.

If you’re concerned, book a Myopia Assessment through the link in bio.

Soccer ball vs rugby ball ⚽🏉
That’s literally the difference between a normal eye and one with astigmatism.
When the shape isn’t perfectly round, light doesn’t focus properly… and that’s when the “shadows” and stretched lights start.
Now it makes sense, right?

If your child is squinting, complaining about “shadows,” or struggling with the whiteboard… this is for you 👀
Astigmatism is more common than most parents realise, and the early signs are easy to miss.
